I use DR strings on all of my basses. Normally, I would use Fat Beams, I saw that Victor Wooten uses pure blues, so, naturally, I tried them. They were very bright and deep with a good midrange and they stayed in tune for a long time even with very aggressive playing. DR did a good job, but I went back to the Fat Beams because the Fats were more consistent across all of my basses, and they just felt better in my hands. Pure Blues are good strings, I just prefer the Fat Beams. You should try them, they may work for you.

These Bass strings are more flexible than normal. They sound great and stay in tune. I'm going to purchase more in the future.

I waited several months before posting this review to see how these strings would age. So far, I am very pleased.I bought the DR Pure Blues strings on recommendation from my favorite guitar tech. I primarily play Jazz basses with D'Addario flats, but I keep a P-Bass with roundwounds because every bassist needs one. My current rock project calls for it quite a lot.I previously used Carvin or Ernie Ball nickel-plated strings in a lighter set, but I never felt they were very balanced.Anyway, in discussion with the tech I told him I really wanted that round, full, bluesy Berry Oakley sound from the 1970s that all the blues-rock guys had then. He suggested these DR strings, and he was correct. They are balanced and fat. I still sit very nicely in the mix with ample definition and presence, but also it seems there is less sonic clutter. For reference, I have these on a 1996 Fender American Standard Precision with the action as low as it will go without fretting out. We chose the 50-110 gauge to help get the action as low as possible. I am exclusively a finger player. With the set-up as it is, and with these strings, the neck is very fast. One thing I hate is a lot of clicky noise in my attack, and these strings tame that very well. They have a smoothe attack and a nice, even sustain. They also feel good and don't tear my fingers up like some other rounds I have used. After playing them hard for several months, they are holding up very well and sound just as lively as new.I wouldn't recommend them for slap or Jaco-style jazz, but I think they are versatile enough to fit just about anything else, especially blues, country, rock, or even metal.I hope they continue making them a long time because the DR Pure Blues is my go-to round string now.

What's all this raz about high quality...?Upon initial installation the 4th string broke between the nut and the tuning peg before full tension was even remotely attained, rendering the string about an inch too short to even reach the tuning peg. It broke where it should have been impossible to break, where the string is straight and in contact with nothing but thin air. The string hadn't even sat on the nut yet, =/I bought these because the reviews say they "last longer," ...not in this case, -_-

Long life, great bright tone when they are new. Overtime they develop a fat warm tone with a nice zing on top. This is one of those strings that "age" well, without sounding lifeless.

These strings are perfect for Drop C tuning. I put these on my back up jazz bass over a year ago on a whim because a friend of mine recommended them to me because he is sponsored by DR strings. So I gave it a try. I have always been an Ernie Ball Power Slinky fan. But lately Ernie’s seem to go dead a lot faster than I would like. But when they would go dead I reach for my back up jazz bass and the DR strings are still in great shape. They hold tune still and sound great and have not failed me yet. My main bass is going in for a set up again and this time I’m using these DR strings on my main bass. I play with a pick most of the time so the strings take a beating for sure. I Highly recommend these strings especially for lower tunings. My low C sounds amazing with these. Enjoy. 😃
