I've been playing classical guitar, using a foot stool under my left foot. Well, after countless hours of practicing, I've messed up my SI joint from the pelvic tilt in this position. Physical therapy will help, but I had to get rid of the foot stool. I now know to sit level, both feet on the ground, legs at 90 degree angle (and now I use a guitar lift).I had a hard time getting a stool that was comfortable for hours' long practicing, one that had a big enough seat (most are 10-11" diam), and one that was low enough to give me 90 degree flexion at the hips (I'm 5' 6").After purchasing and returning about half a dozen stools that didn't work, I decided to go big guns and buy this highly-rated and, yes, very expensive drum throne. It is absolutely perfect.I love the comfortable 14" cushion. And this model is a lower to the ground model, so I can sit with hips at 90 degree flexion. I have it at 17" off the ground.Anyways, like another reviewer said, it's expensive and you will love it.

This throne offers a low profile sitting height. The seat height ranges from 16 inches to 24 inches. This is one of the lowest seats available. The center post is a screw and is very easy to adjust. There is an internal stop that prevents you from raising the seat to an unsafe height. The seat is 15 inches in diameter. That's large. The seat texture is very leather-like. I don't know what it is made of but it and the foam stuffing is very comfortable. I'd call it medium firm. The center post doesn't touch the floor even at the lowest seat position; plenty of room to spare. The seat can be fixed, no rotation, or it can be adjusted to allow rotation. This is adjusted with a thumb screw just under the seat. Tight and the seat is stationary, loosen a little and the seat will rotate. Loosen it a bit more and you can remove the seat. The seat frame, tripod, is very sturdy and will easily support a large person. I couldn't say officially but it is as sturdy as thrones that claim to support 300-400 pounds. I cannot find an official rating. It is expensive but it's a very high quality throne. If you have it, you will like it. There are several more inexpensive, good quality thrones but none that offer a sitting position as low as 16 inches or as nice a seat.I use it for guitar practice and am very happy. The picture is my throne collection. The tallest DW is also a great throne, the seat is a comfortable 14 inches and a little firmer than the 9101 but it's too tall. I bought it before I knew what would work best. The smallest throne, the Yamaha, is low but the seat is too small, it's 12 inches, and the center post touches the floor. That marks the floor and sometimes the stool wobbles. The middle throne is the 9101 throne of this review. The middle one is just right. It sits low, 16 inches. The seat is a large 15 inches in diameter.I don't know what a drummer would like but this one works for me.

My boyfriends favorite drum throne. He loves the low profile and it’s high quality.

I've been through many stools and i'm 5'7", so this one starts low at about 16" and up. The legs are shorter so you don't trip on it and the Diameter of the seat, I thought it would affect hitting my legs, but sitting low, it's comfortable.

I have a 6 year old drummer. You would think this purchase is over kill, but it was a perfect decision. Very low, so he can sit properly to drum and use the foot petal. Very safe, the other stools repeatedly came part including the top off the seat, very unsafe. Love it!A Mom & Son
