Was building an EMG solo-machine out of an old Strat I had lying around. After replacing almost every piece of the guitar save for the body itself, I wanted to replace the original silver input jack cover with something black to really lean-into the darkness of the guitar. This was easy to find and I ordered it. It slotted into the original body, but is not an exact fit...it is a little proud on the bottom edge as can be seen in the photon where it sticks up slightly from the surface of the body. Honestly, I don't consider this a horrible thing because I've found even factory items occasionally need minor work done to the body for the best fit, but if you're expecting a perfect-fit drop-in item, this may disappoint you.The metal this is made of is comparable to the factory cover - so this isn't just a thin, floppy replacement...it is beefy enough for the job it needs to do.It came with two black screws, which is nice, but it would have been cool to have included a black nut and washer for the jack.Notice also that the finish is a semi-gloss, not matte black as the order page lists. Not a huge deal, but I think either gloss or matte would have worked with the glossy Strat paint, but somewhere in between is kinda weird. Still on the fence as to whether I'll keep it and lengthen the body opening, maybe paint it gloss black...

Its a good part - its exactly what it is supposed to be, however I was expecting something different from the normal off-brand parts experience. It just doesnt fit right without some modification. To be fair, this is not uncommon with these strat style jack plates. I bought this to replace the chrome jack plate on my 2001 Squier Standard Series strat. It fits in the cavity, but it doesnt line up with the existing holes. There are other small issues with how it sits in the existing cavity also, but they resolve mostly with filling the existing holes and drilling new holes. It will likely not allow an upgrade to the switch as the opening sits farther back in the cavity, leaving less room for an upgraded jack to fit. I cant use it for the guitar I bought it for because there is finish chipping that was hidden under the stock jack plate around one of the original holes that will be exposed based on how this jack plate sits in the cavity, but I am sure I will use it on something else in the future. I gave it a 4 rating because I think the part is too simple not to be able to replicate more closely to the original part. Most stock jack plates will fit across all guitars that use this kind of output jack setup - the off-brand plates just seem to be off a slight bit.

If the output jack plate on your Stratocaster or similar style electric guitar is damaged, loose, or you just want to change the look, this OVSAL part is a direct replacement. It's the classic 'boat shape' style commonly found on Strats and is made of stainless steel with a chrome finish. This little metal plate simply holds the guitar's output jack securely in place on the body. Replacing it is usually a straightforward task for anyone comfortable with basic guitar maintenance. It's an essential piece for ensuring a solid connection for your guitar cable.

There are many choices out there for strat-type jack plates in gold; this one is middle-of-the-road in price and does not include an output jack as many do. Its gold finish looks good from a distance, but close examination shows the finish to be a bit rough. Once you start plugging and unplugging, that will be less of an issue. Two gold mounting screws are included. The screws and plate are in separate ziploc bags, and both are packed into a bubble bag for safe transit. This seems to be standard practice for Ovsal. Their guitar parts have been quite good for their price point; this part is OK.I also got the black version, which looks a lot better. It has a couple of miniscule nicks that can only be seen when looking very closely. All of these are appropriate for strats or any guitar using this type of jack plate.
