We weren't sure if this was a gimmick gadget but it works very well clearing vines in our woods. One of my husband's favorite tool to use.

This is not for splitting wood. Fiskars has a tool for that. This is for zombies, vines electrical cables, throwing. Light weight but life guarantee. I try my best to destroy all my Fiskars because I'm edgy.I'm sore and need a nap....You have beaten me again Fiskar.

I generally love Fiskars products, but this one seems a little “meh”. The feel of the tool is great - the handle is well designed, it’s not too heavy not to light, and the balance is good. You can use the tool for long periods without tiring. The blade isn’t machete-sharp, so trying to use it to cut through hardwood stumps or limbs (even smaller ones) is not a practical application.

This is what I'd call a 'light' hatchet, in that the blade is thinner, and the handle is lighter than most hatchets of comparable size. It cuts more like a knife using sharpness to get through the branch, than weight to chop like most hatchets. Because of this, sharpness is very important to performance. It came well sharpened, but I haven't used it enough yet to see how well it will hold its edge. The handle is hollow plastic or fiberglass, again quite light. Cutting performance is good, and the light weight reduces fatigue. The handle is also very comfortable to use, and has a swell at the end so it won't slip out of your hand. If it holds an edge well, it will be my favorite hatchet. About the only downside I can see so far is that since the blade is thin, I'm afraid to 'twist' out chips for fear of bending the blade, instead I just chop, and let the chips fall out on their own (same technique as I use cutting bigger branches with a machete. All in all a comfortable and effective hatchet.

Super fun to use. It is really sharp and great for choping vines and or small branches. It has become an invaluable daily tool.

The sheath is a little strange, but has to be due to the shape of the Hatchet. It cuts great and is very handy for clearing trails.Really appreciate the oversize grip.
