I wouldn't say that I am disappointed with this purchase, but I am underwhelmed.Living in Maine myself, I figured the novelty of a classic brand like this from my state would be worth a little more over other brands. I was both right and wrong. The quality of the axe is mostly average. I do like the size of it and the shape is nice, but it feels like I paid a premium for a basic axe with a Snow and Nealley roll mark on the blade and a mostly legible roll mark on the handle. I don't think anyone will ever pick this up and ask me where I bought it.When other mentioned this comes dull, they are under selling how dull it is. Be prepared to put in some time by hand or with a a grinder to put something that would actually cut on it.

This ace is small enough to carry with you on the go. I have not tested how well it resharpens. It keeps an edge pretty well. The handle is very good quality. It should last a very long time.

It was an okay looking Hatchet. That's where the good ended. It was as dull as a butter knife and would not accept an edge! Very sad! I would suggest getting a Harbor Freight before this one!

I love that it is made in the USA. It is pretty sharp. The metal is hard, and so it is hard to sharpen with a file. It keeps a sharp edge for a long time. Perfect for small branches and I used it for splitting some small logs.

Bought this hatchet as a replacement for one i had been using for years. The build quality and attention to detail is amazing. The hatched comes with protective wax on it . The sleeve is very well made. If you are looking for a hatched that will last a lifetime, this is the one! And it’s made in good old USA

Very nicely made, purchased because made in USA and had a leather belt sheath. Very handy, primary use back as hammer to drive small plastic felling wedge's- it's done a fine job, but it's not intended for that. It comes somewhat dull, more utility edge. I sharpened mine, I occasionally use it instead of a knife. Also splits kindling well.Steel seems to be good, not too hard not too soft. It's more expensive than lots of Chinese models, and a lot cheaper than some European one's. I purchased to use, some reviews are comparing it to $100 $200 and $300 hatches saying it's inferior. It may or may not be inferior compared to those, either way apples to oranges.

I like it and I'm keeping it but the handle was not installed well. Handle is in-line with the head, but it is in-line with one side if that makes sense. So that is to say... Looking directly at the blade straight on, you can clearly see that the handle is off-set to one side of the head. Handle grain is good. I haven't tested it but have sharpened it. I imagine it will hold up well for use as intended. The sheath is a good but not a great quality leather. Head is coated in a lacquer of some sort to prevent rust I suppose. There is also a grey paintlike coating at the top of the head. Upon removal you can see what appears to be an aluminum wedge. I removed the lacquer from the handle as well and started a boiled linseed oil treatment. I'm no pro woodsman but overall I'd say it's a good hatchet. I like it and am tempted to sand the head to a mirror finish.
