I HATE having to leave a bad review- but nowadays, it's a good idea to have some quality control, even if you are in China and really don't care much about each piece you make. Yeah, I know, it's just a little Cedar shoe box...I received a box that had very poor woodworking. The person that built it, did nice joinery, but they used a warped piece of wood for the side, and, and did not bother to swap it for a piece that spec'ed out. The entire box, is out of square. Result- see photos.Returned.

Very badly made as the lid just pulled out of the top rather than slide out as it’s supposed to.

First of all the cedar box smells amazing but I suppose more importantly, it fits everything I have for shing shoes. 2 brushes, cans of shoe shine, rags, shoe horns and a tube of Shoe Goo. Exactly what I needed to keep it all in one place.

It looks nice, smells great, and fits all of my supplies for one color of my shoe polishes.However, the shipping packaging needs help. The item arrived broken. I will glue it myself as I'm not interested in a return. Understand that it's great, but cedar is horribly fragile in shipping. The poor packaging knocked a star off of my rating.

The height of the box should be at least 4 inches more. It is too low. The foot when rested on the box keeps slipping off. At the edge of the heel there should be a U shaped wooden piece stuck to the box, This way the heels does not move. This is more for a shoe shine boy who can shine a patron's shoe. For a person like me who shines his own shoes the height of the box and the non support of the heel is an issue.

When I received the box, I noticed that, while the entire box is supposed to be made from cedar, the bottom panel of the box is actually made of another, cheaper, type of wood. This, by itself, isn't a major issue. The major issue is that the inside of the bottom of the box is covered with a very sticky adhesive. I presume that maybe there is supposed to be a cedar panel glued on top of it. Based on the fact that the adhesive is still sticky after being in transit for more than a week, I don't expect it to be usable, without attaching some type of material on top of it. The pictures on Amazon from the supplier do show that the bottom should be cedar as well, so I'm not sure what the issue is.Aside from the above defect, the box seems to be otherwise usable. It is small, as pointed out in other reviews, but the dimensions are accurately presented in the description, so that's not something that I would mark down. I would just recommend that you make sure that its size will work for your needs. The sliding top, as also pointed out in other reviews, is loose. A bit too loose I feel. I do think that I would have marked the box down for how loose the top is. If you lift it by the shoe stand, which I expect most people will do, and tilt it ever so slightly back, the box will quickly slide back along the groove and fall to the floor. I will have to add some material along the box lid to add enough resistance to prevent this from happening. Overall, without the issue with the adhesive, my review would have been 3 or 4 stars. I appreciate that it is made of cedar wood and build quality (aside from the issue with the bottom panel and the lid being so loose) is largely acceptable. Based on the issues though, I can't recommend the item and will return it.
