While I have not installed it on my car just yet, we took it out of the package and it seems to be a very sturdy hook for our kayak. It does go on the cross bars of the top of your car and not the side rails. I will update this review once I install it.

Great J racks. Have used several times around town and on the interstate with no complaints. The ability to fold them down is a huge plus. Allows me to park in my garage without taking the racks off.

I really like how durable this product is and the soft yet tough rubber they use to protect your kayak from being damaged is nice. My only suggestion would be to supply different lengths of bolts and maybe some extra washer in case you lose one.

I drive a Nissan Pathfinder and these racks fit okay on the top. The racks lean back so far that I really can't use two racks at the same time or the kayaks are pushing against eachother and shifting. I would not buy these again. If they sat a little more straight up then they'd be great. I love the padding and the ease of assembly, putting them up and taking them down but with how far they lean back it's just not worth two pairs I would just get one pai and I lay my second kayak flat on my roof next to it.
