I didn't know this would be such a large compass. I've added a picture to show the actual size with it folded up. As can be seen it is over 17 inches long.It's made entirely of plastic. However, since it is just being used as a compass, that is perfectly fine. There is a wingnut at the pivot point that can be secured down to lock it in place for the circle or arc that you want to create.At the bottom is a suction cup on one side and a pen holder with lockdown screw on the other side.The suction cup works great as long as it's on a truly flat surface. The white board needs to be as flat as glass. However, it does also work on glass. The suction cup will not work everything you try to stick it too.The pen holder size has a diameter just under 7/8 inch hole which makes it useful for holding decently wide diameter pens or whatever drawing object you are using. There is a hold down screw to lock it in place. As you can see by the photo, there is only a standard size whiteboard marker in it, and it still holds it nicely.I wish the suction cup was a little bit stronger (or less budget feeling) and maybe if there was a slightly different design in the pen holder, or maybe different size attachments for pens. The price to me is slightly on the high side but I still recommend it, as it does work fine.

Very large but actually functional compass. Plastic arms and hinge seem very durable and definitely ready for use in classrooms, demonstrations, or just home use where you need to draw large circles or arcs. Easy to set and lock for repeated and accurate draws.I use this for large crafts where I have to scribe circles to cut and this saves me lots of money getting the exact circle size I need the first time and able to repeat it as as needed. Pricing is terrific if you have the use case
