It’s good baby food but it’s also very useful in animal rescue when cats are ill or having trouble eating regular foods. It can be a real lifesaver.

Some of the cases I ordered contain coarsest ground, chunky meat that is dry and crumbly. Baby will NOT EAT the jars with this concoction inside. Date is ok; where are they making these odd non-smooth jars? I bought some Beechnut at the grocery that was just like this: awful; I threw it away. I suspect that some processing facility is making this stuff. I have searched the internet, but the only place I am seeing reports of the same thing is here in the Amazon reviews. Gerber needs to know that babies refuse to eat this version of the food. I am wasting lots of money playing Russian roulette with buying the baby meat.I want Gerber to correct this problem

Hello, I am a 78 year old woman who doesn't have a lot to offer in the teeth department, lol. Here is what you need to know... when you first pop the lid off, (since they are vacuum sealed), I admit there is a "disagreeable" if you will, odor. However it quickly dissipates, you put the jar in the microwave for 15 seconds, it is warm, no odor and delicious and a quick source of pure protein... I have one or 2 a day, has really helped my energy. Also love the Gerber 2 food for toddlers, mainly the peaches! yum yum (also my cats do love the chicken, they come running when I take it out of the microwave, lol)

Like everyone else, I have given this product to my sick or elderly cats over the years and the cats seem to really enjoy it and it is often the only thing they will eat. Right now, my 18 year old cat is at the very end of her life, she is so weak and unbelievably skinny (under four pounds). She mostly just sits by the window or sleeps. However, she does pop up a few times per day when it is mealtime, to lap up some of this chicken baby food. For the past week, it is about the only thing she will eat. We are beyond grateful that this product is available, and so happy that we can order it from Amazon. Thank you, Gerber and Amazon! From Cookie and her humans

Turkey flavor gerber baby food is known as a "high value target" for cat traps. You can pour out a little and add water, shake it up, and get a nice 'gravy' for that sick pet that you really need to get to eat. Sometimes I drop the unopened jar into a cup of hot water to warm it up naturally before serving it. I have used it to nurse many a sick kitty back to health, bait catch and release traps, and as a treat for our diabetic cat. Some cats that frustratingly like to lick their food, watering this down and pouring it over their food allows you to get them to eat their normal food. It is just turkey and water as the ingredients, so "no carb" for those having to deal with diabetic pets. Cat food is frustratingly full of carbs, and as carnivores, not a great choice for them... but since I am not going to feed my cats fresh rodents, this is a lovely alternative.

Our little buddy had cancer and we fed him baby food as a special treat. This is really good stuff if you need something that will go through a syringe. It's not adequate nutrition for a cat, though, so we use this as a special treat as opposed to a meal.

Come on now, how much of this stuff actually DOES taste and smell good to adults. The last time I bought it at Safeway, it tasted and smelled exactly the same--it's not Amazon's fault that grown-ups would rather eat pot roast with potatoes and gravy on the side. So, if you don't like it, fire up the blender, and whizz up your unseasoned hunk of meat (which is why it smells so intolerable to our tastes and smells, btw) into a goopy smelly jelly (very much like the jar you're commenting on here). Walk through the market trying to convince your other kids to keep their hands inside the basket everyone's riding in, you stand in line at the end of the day with your feet killing you in those do-me heels guarding the gum and chocolate bars from the other day-care escapees (now busily reaching OUTside the basket for the gum and chocolate), and then embarassingly survive (you hope) the wet (or otherwise and getting smelly) diaper aroma. Now, pay more for it than at Amazon, lug it all home while balancing tons of paper towels on your head (vs. waiting for the nice-looking UPS guy to set it inside the door where all you have to do is open it and put it on the shelf.)I like shopping in the quiet of my cleaned up kitchen after everyone's gone to bed, paying less for it (with a Prime Membership), and just putting it away when it arrives two days later. I think that's what we're supposed to be rating and commenting on. This works for me and rates five stars.
