I wanted a set of high tension ball-end strings for an acoustic (normally steel string) guitar. Normal tensions rattled, even after some adjustment of the truss rod. These strings not only eliminated the rattle but have an excellent depth of tone that I'm very impressed with. It's a big sound but nicely balanced. I'm suitably impressed and will be getting another couple of sets as spares and replacements.I can't comment on longevity yet, because I've only just put them on and got them in tune. Initial impression is that they will not be difficult to keep in tune because, even after only a couple of hours, they're already way more stable than some other strings I had on the guitar before this.Only niggle was that the high E string was missing the ball at the end of the string but that wasn't a problem as I was able to remove one from an old string and substitute it without any problems.I'm looking forward to working with these for some time.

I have these strings on all three of my nylon string guitars. Two of my guitars specify hard tension strings as original equipment and they have caused no issues with the third. I've had several sets of these strings over the last two years without any issues other than one ball that came untied when changing strings. I love the ease of changing strings with the ball end. I'm a fingerstyle blues guy, not a classical guitarist. For me the look, feel, and tone of these strings are perfect.

I love the way these bronze and black strings look and sound. I'm no expert but after trying many different brands of strings and never seeing too much difference in the sound, I put these on and immediately felt the sound was brighter and clearer than usual. That's probably due to the bronze basses and the fact that I haven't had high tension strings before. Even though these are ball end, I tied them on as recommended by a musician friend for best sound. I've been annoyed by strings in the past developing dark worn areas quickly. These have lasted longer than most in that respect.

These are indeed ball end, not tie end as described.I notified Amazon about description inaccuracy and they ignored it.The plastic ball on the G string was broken on all the sets I received. It should be noted that these are wrapped with hard bronze windings, which are much harder than the silver plated copper windings on most sets and may accelerate fret wear on classical guitars with softer alloys.

The item description clearly says "tie end" strings, but when I got them they are in fact ball end. I just took a scissors and clipped off the ball ends. But still, the item description should be updated to reflect this.

i found the same thing, that they are ball end and not tie end. i cut off the ends. i have gone though several strings from flamenco strings to soft medium strings. these strings are perfect for me! and match my tuning machine to boot. i recommend them even with the misinformation.

First of all the packaging looked like it had been opened before. When I put them on my guitar the "nylon" 1st E string had such a crappy knot at the ball that the whole thing went through the hole of the ball, pushing out with with tremendous force when I was tuning it. I got cut with the string, and the peg of the guitar that keeps the strings in place is somewhere in my house after it flew out when the string separated from the ball. So now I have to buy new strings again as well as new pegs for my guitar since I cannot find the one that became a missile.
