I like the look of this mailbox. It is pretty sturdy considering its plastic. The door could have been a little bit thicker as it kinda bends a little when you go to open it but not bad. I am happy. It will last longer than a metal one.

Nice mailbox, love the neutral color and almost matches the house color so a plus there. Opens on both sides for convenience, easy to install. A tad on the small side though, would look better if larger, but thats the only downside in my opinion.

The coolest part about this is that it opens from the back so we don’t have to go out on the street to get the mail. We live on a busy street so that is important to us. This is a lot larger than we thought but it is sturdy and the quality is really nice!!!

This mailbox is great! Very sturdy and well made. I’m very glad I got it. It’s actually much larger than I expected, which is handy for most small packages to fit in it. I love that I can retrieve my mail using the back door so I don’t have to be out in the road. Just one thing: you need to assemble it. The top part of the box has flanges on the edges which fit down into the base, then it’s supposed to slide over into final position. I have no arm strength, so I tried and tried endlessly to get it to slide over. I even tried a hammer. No luck! Finally, I put a tiny amount of sewing machine oil onto a paper towel and smeared a thin layer of the oil onto the flanges. I then put the base and top flat on a table, pulled it up against me, and pulled hard on the front edge of the base. Success! It slid into position! The doors were then pretty easy to install, and the whole assembly of the box slides onto the base which is part of the “post”. The post of the box is hollow, because it then slides down over a wood 4’x4’ post that you would have pre-installed (with concrete down underground), sticking up about 2 feet. (I had a pro do that for me). The mailbox comes with the 4 screws needed to screw it into your wood post. Don’t forget to order numbers to stick onto your box!

I am very happy with my Gibraltar mailbox. Minor point: ordered mocha, received black. But color was a coin toss anyway, so no problem.Yes, assembling the top to base is a little tricky. But going into it having read reviews, it wasn’t at all bad. I got it on about the fifth try. I elected to leave doors off until top part was on. Doors went on easily. I am waiting till morning to finish the installation so I get the proper height. I am installing over about a three inch metal post that holds my current mailbox.The Gibraltar mailbox may not be the strongest ever made, but it will work well in my current location. I am happy with the construction, ease of assembly, and American manufacture.

Something crushed my old mailbox. Took this out of the box. Slid the rounded top onto the bottom of the mailbox assembly in about five minutes. Slid the constructed mailbox onto the included hollow post in about two minutes. Took it out to my old mailbox location and slid it over the old 4x4 (it wasn't damaged) and it was done. Nice tight fit. Couldn't be simpler. If you don't have a 4x4 post in the ground, you'll need to do that. DON'T try to put the assembly on the post until the post is set in the ground.

UPDATE: About 1 year later and mailbox is still perfect. High quality!Original review:I had an old metal mailbox that the door kept popping open (annoying).This went together fairly easily. The most difficult was getting the curved top to snap into the base. Patience is the key. Follow the directions and it will go right together.I already had a 4x4 wood post in the ground to I slid this over and secured with the 4 supplied screws.Total time from unboxing to finished was under 10 minutes which included removing my old box.Would recommend!

What I needed?I was looking for a simple plastic mailbox to slide over the existing post from our previous metal mailbox. I didn't like the huge mailboxes, with newspaper slot, barn doors, or other crazy shapes or colors.What I found?This Solar Group CL10000M mailbox is exactly what I needed. Met my requirements for simplicity, color, and easy installation.Installation:* Took about 20 minutes total and that included shoveling the snow away from the existing post.* Simply snaps together in a way that feels VERY solid. No special tools required.* Slides easily over standard 4x4 post. Note, it does not come with the post. You would need to install one if it didn't already exist.* Four screws are used to fasten it to the existing post.* Only required a phillips screwdriver for attaching to mailbox. Electric screwdriver makes it easy.Function:* Has front and rear doors which snap tightly.* Internal width is slightly more narrow than a magazine lying flat. Not going to result in a heavily folded magazine.* Height is as expected. Spoke to the mailman and he said the height is perfect for him. Although I would say it's a bit higher than my previous mailbox.* It has a flag that works and won't fall back down.Note: This product is actually branded Rubbermaid on the box. Although it was manufactured by Solar Group, per the stamp in the plastic mold.
