I don't know anybody that likes to operate post hole diggers! Bought one of these for work liked it so much ease of installation that I bought one for the house!

Easy to install mailbox onto post. Many options. A little short so I had to drive t-posts inside the post to ensure it stayed in place

When I moved in mine rental house there was a rotten wood post with a rusty mailbox. After ordering a Gibraltar Mailbox I ordered the post to go with it. My brother helped me to put it together and install. A couple of the holes were off a little even though it says they will fit the mailbox I purchased it did not. I would suggest having a drill handy to drill a couple of new holes.

Solid metal post. Has held up to our infamous country drive-by mailbox bashings. Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because of its design - it doesn’t have an adequate way to really attach the mailbox securely to the back of the base - and the brackets aren’t the strongest.

Not the best quality, bent and not level.

It is a 2 person job definitely. We didn't have a Gibraltar mailbox, but with some extra washers for spacers and drilling an extra mounting hole on the mailbox bottom, managed to get it up and running! We used a block of wood to cushion the top of the post rather than the provided plastic pad since it just seemed easier. The steel post assembly seems very sturdy, well painted and the welds on the angled bracket good.I definitely love it!!

It's an OK fix. Some idiot ran over my mailbox post and I had to get one pretty fast. This one does the job, sort of, but there are some issues with design. First, because the post is cut towards one corner (supposedly to help facilitate in pounding it into the ground), it wants to lean the opposite way and isn't exactly easy to hold the post level, hold the plastic POS block that you're supposed to strike against with the hammer/mallet, and hammer it into the ground. Then it comes to the plastic POS block you're supposed to hit. Because the top of the post is open-ended, it bites into the plastic every time you hit it. Given that they give you a cover piece to fill in that same hole, it would've been better had they had a closed end which would have resulted in a better finish. As others have said, because the bracket section that holds the mailbox on is pretty much one bolt and nut that holds it to the post, it would definitely benefit from having some thread locker in there to help prevent anyone just taking that bolt and nut off and making away with your mailbox. That being said, the post so far seems to be doing what it's supposed to do, not much else can be said.

We spent over a week looking online and in multiple stores for the right post. This post is very sturdy, easy to build, not at all difficult to put into the ground, it comes with all of the hardware and there is no need to buy anything other than the actual mail box that attaches to it (make sure you find the mailbox that is compatible for this post via the letter in the last photo I believe). You do need a screw driver, wrench, and either a rubber mallet or a hammer with something soft to protect the post (don't hit the post directly with the hammer). Overall, I would buy again but it doesn't seem we will ever have to buy another mailbox or post because of the quality of this one. Great product!

I ordered this product about 3 years ago, as a replacement for the one that came with the house. The weld where the arm attaches to the post had failed, and I decided to take the easy way out, keep the existing post, and just replace the arm. 3 years later, the replacement has failed - in just the same way. 3 years is not an acceptable life. The product does not last, because it is not manufactured to withstand normal weather conditions, which is baffling, since it can only be used outdoors. In addition to the substandard welding, even the bolts do not last. When removing the main bolt, it snapped in half. How hard is it to use weather resistant bolts? If it the ground wasn't frozen right now, I would have upgraded to a proper 4 inch post. If you are considering this product, I suggest you do the same.Further, definitely DO NOT BUY an open box. I ordered new, and still received one someone returned - after taking out the arm and related hardware! Amazon should do a minimum of checking returns before reselling, because as we see, people are shameless.

Installed the mailbox using this Gibraltar SDPK0000 Black Heavy-Duty Steel Drive-In Mailbox Post Kit,This kit is OK but the mailbox is very heavy and had to install it with concrete and inclined backwards to keep the mailbox horizontal.I also modified it slightly so that the post would not be so far back from the mailbox. The upper portion is separate from the foot that goes into the concrete and could be lifted off, so I drilled a hole and used a metal screw to keep it safe and in place. The unit is handy to match the mailbox but should be redesigned to be closer to the back of it and therefore more steady instead of oscillating.

Very easy to install and is very sturdy in the ground. There is a height adjustment on it that is also very easy to adjust. We are so pleased that there was an alternative to mixing and pouring cement. I think our mailman will be very happy to have a sturdy place to leave our mail as well, as our other box was hanging on by a string. lol The mailbox we attached seems to be very sturdy as well. It's the little things that make your house a home and having a nice new mailbox is a simple thing that makes my hubby and I very happy.
