Perfect for my chicken nests! My chickens love the feel of them and it keeps the eggs clean. Super easy to clean off the chicken poop too. Just hose off and leave to dry!

They wore out fairly quickly. The pad in the nesting box that my hens favored has a large worn out spot. The pad still works, but would have liked to see it last longer.

Honest review from a hobby farm in Northen British Columbia. Coop of 15 chickens, 3 egg drop nesting boxes. These mats are perfect. I cut some notches in the bottom of the mats and zap strapped them inti the nesting box so they don't move. After 4 years of use for 3 pads I've finally made a second order. If the mats get poop you simply wash the mat with a hose. The eggs roll nice and smooth into the trap door and i rarely have any cracked eggs. I used a few different styles of pads at the start 3 years ago bit found these to be the best hands down.

I almost never give one star reviews, but my hens hated these pads. We put these into their nesting boxes--boxes they had been laying in all season--and all our hens started laying their eggs on the floor of a cat condo in order to avoid the pads. Thinking it might be a visual issue, we hid the pads underneath their regular nesting shavings, but they still continued to lay their eggs in the cat condo. One of our broody hens who's working to hatch six eggs even went as far as to roll every single egg off and away from the pad, then resumed her laying. We grew tired of digging eggs out from the cat condo and couldn't figure out how to get our hens to return to their lay boxes, when inspiration struck us. We removed the lay pads, placed them in the cat condo, and boom--our hens were instantly back to their regular lay boxes again. So if you need your hens to STOP laying in an undesirable place, this is a great product.

Our chickens like this grass. It is softer than most artificial grass. Look at the closeup image. You can see that it is structured more like real grass. There are no sharp or pointed tips. That seems to make all the difference. We added more chickens and the younger ones' eggs have weaker shells or even none, so there have been messes. It is easy to clean these pads; you just need a hose. However, we added new nesting boxes, so bought more of these pads. There were enough to replace the originals, which were still in great shape after several years of use by half a dozen birds. The one thing I would like is to get this material in continuous rolls. Our nesting boxes are wider than 12", so I have to cut strips to put alongside a full piece in each box. I cut pieces of luan to fit in each box and screwed the pads and strips to the luan. That way, unlike what happened with the original pads, the chickens can't scratch the strips up from the bottom of the box and kick them around. If I could buy a roll of the material, I could cut them to the right length.

I am using this product for the first time in my brooder. (See photos.) I am waiting for the chicks to hatch right now and so this bedding material has found its first use in the brooder. As it is quite springy to be used by itself for the newly hatched chicks, and for chick hygiene, I have added wood shavings, but I envision being able to remove the grass squares and just shake the soiled wood shavings into a bag for disposal. So this will be convenient for me and a soft underlay base for the chicks under the wood shavings. It looks very comfortable and aesthetic. I hope the chicks appreciate it. Later on when they are older I will use it in their coop.

I have tried several nest pad, my chickens just scratch them apart. So I tried pine shavings and straw the chickens just starched it out of the nest causing some cracked eggs. I bought these a few months ago and the still look brand new. No more cracked eggs no more messy shaving to clean up I just shake them out weekly and put them back. They are a money saver and a time saver because I am not redoing the nest daily. I highly recommend these pad.

These have been working well to keep our nesting boxes clean, as our hens kick out any straw or shaving we put in. Great price point, only 4 stars as they’re a bit harder than other liners we’ve had to clean if an egg gets broken, but otherwise they stand up well.

My chickens seem to like these pads as much as I do. They are soft, stand up to the chickens scratching and hose off easily. I only hose off when there is a broken egg or poop. Most of the time, I just bring a shop vac in the coop for heavy dusting and vacuum these off while I'm at it. They hold up great. I have had these pads for over a year. I recently purchased more for a new coop.
