About this item

  • ATTRACTIVE COLOR DESIGN & STYLES - Harris solar blankets are made from only 100% virgin UV- protected polyethylene bubble, unlike most, darker colored Blue and Grey covers that are marketed as “clear”. Harris solar covers allow that maximum amount of the sun’s UV rays in to heat your swimming pool – while helping you retain that heat at night! Sun to solar heat, but not solar heat back in the sky!
  • C.R.S. HEAT RETENTION SOLAR COVERS – What does this mean?! Simple. CONSERVE, REDUCE & SAVE! CONSERVE. Harris solar blankets conserve water by reducing the amount of “top-off” water needed by 30% - 50%! REDUCE. Covering your pool when not in use is the most effective way of reducing your heating costs while also reducing chemical needs by up to 60%! SAVE. Save on the time required for cleaning and maintenance by keeping debris out of the pool!
  • DON’T BE FOOLED! Lighter colored covers let more sun/solar heat into your pool than darker colored covers! According the Unite States Department of Energy, a transparent, or “CLEAR” bubble cover may increase pool solar energy absorption by 15% -25%, while an opaque or “non-transparent” cover will reduce it by 20%–40%. You need to consider this when selecting a pool cover.
  • “ALUMINIZED” SOLAR COVERS – Reflective or “aluminized” layers found within some solar covers tend to be extremely heavy and difficult to manage because, by definition – they are dipped in an aluminum alloy. This process can also make solar covers appear a darker gray in color which reduces heat absorption by water.
  • TRIM TO FIT - Your pool MAY be uniquely shaped. Getting the right fit is as easy as finding a marker and sharp pair of scissors! Place the bubbles face down to the water and trace a line on the cover showing where you should cut off the additional material. Don’t worry -this won’t affect the manufacturer’s warranty---they understand!

Would give zero stars if possible. Bought in 2022. Living in northeast US, only gets used for a total of about 3-4 months a year. So used 6-8 months in the pool. The pool cover had a few small tears last year and this year, after only being on the pool less than a month, there are many rips in the cover. Contacted Amazon and manufacturer and they said the could replace it if I paid current full price (around $139 plus $20 for shipping). Don’t know why I would buy another solar cover from this company at full price since their quality and warranty are bad. And I can buy it elsewhere at a cheaper cost.

So far this is a very good solar cover. I’ve had it on for about a month. I use a solar cover reel to take it on/off the pool and it rolls up very well. Water stays cleaner and has heated to a comfortable 82. With the cover on overnight, temp only drops a degree or two. Will see how it stands up to 100 plus heat in days to come.

We've had quite a few clear solar covers before. They all generate far more heat than the dark covers.Having said that, this one is by FAR the best we've had. My wife never complained once about the pool temperature. I definitely noticed the pool was warmer, and we didn't even have a hot summer. What's amazing too is the fact that we have a lot of trees on the property and only get about 3-4 hours of sunlight. Apparently, the reason for the higher heat output is the micro-bubbles. Whatever. It works! All talk of getting a pool heater has ended!

This is our second summer with an above ground pool (24'x12' oval). Last year, we did not have a cover, spent a lot of time cleaning the pool each day, and the water was always just a bit to chilly to be fun. This year, we ordered this solar cover (clear not blue), and everything has changed! I will admit it does look like a roll of industrial bubble wrap, but don't let appearances deceive you. The first week we used the cover, the water temperature shot up 15 degrees (almost too warm, but it was over 100 degree weather that week). Since then it has evened out to about 78 - 80 degrees constant, we don't waste time on cleaning out debris, and our filter doesn't have to work so hard to get the dust particles out. Our water is clear and refreshing. One thing to know; I've seen other posts saying the cover was too big and they cut it down to size - DO NOT do that! Cutting will break the seal and your cover will not last long. Ours is bigger by about 6 inches all around, but it works great to cover all the edges. We do have to tie it down when not using the pool because we get a lot of wind, but that is a simple fix. We also created a holder for it on our fence using bungee ties. To take the cover off, we fold it over, then roll from the middle. This method keeps the dirt and debris collected overnight on the outside of the cover. Then we hang it up, and reverse the procedure to cover the pool again. It takes an extra 3 minutes, no big deal. This is a great purchase if you have an above ground pool!
