First off, the texture and feel of this map is wonderful, and it is water resistant. I just got back from The BIG Island and found it detailed and easy to read.

I got one of these for each of the islands for an upcoming trip to Hawaii. So many details, waterproof and you can write in them. Highly recommend.

This a very good map, fair amount of detail and references of the road system and attractions on the big island. Would recommend and buy again.

The most important thing when visiting a Hawaiian island is to Plan Ahead! These islands require driving the lengthy perimeter roads to visit different regions. This map provides visual topography that helps plan your days based on access to various areas of the island. Remember that much of your day may be revolutions of driving and stopping for several hours. Pack food and beverages for longer drives. The text is informative and gives detailed explanations of must see sites as well as excursions to ponder booking ahead. I happen to be near sited so the text does not bother me but others may benefit from use of reading glasses or glass. I am mapping out our trip now and upon return, will upload pics of the way I utilized this map to plan out the week.

If you are going to Hawaii Island, you need this book. It is fun to read, very helpful, and a great resource when you are there.

Just as advertised. This is an overall cool map that serves its function. I was camping on the islands and it tends to be rainy in the Winter, so the fact this this map is waterproof really paid off. I like how there is an expanded view on the second side of volcanos national park. Just be really respectful of that place if you visit as it is very powerful and special. If you've been there you know what I'm talking about. However, I heard that Franko's company screwed him and "voted" him out, still making money off his name? I'm not 100% sure of the validity of this and would like to hear from the company or anybody if they know this to be true or not. In any case, it's still a functional, good product.

This map is sooo covered in text that it is almost too difficult to take it all in.I am sure it is waterproof and more durable than paper, but I thought it would be harder and covered with plastic. I guess it is all down to perceptions. If you are buying a guidebook and just looking for a relatively simple map for driving purposes, then this is not for you.

The Franko's maps of the Hawaiian Islands take up little space, are made of waterproof material, and provide not only a good map of the area, but also highlights some of the favorite things to see or do on the islands. I have most of the maps that include: The Hawaiian Islands, Oahu Guide Map, Oahu Dive Map, Maui Guide Map, Maui Dive Map, Hawaii Guide Map, Kauai Guide Map and Kauai Dive Map. Six of the maps were available from Amazon.com with free shipping, but two had to be purchased from independent vendors on Amazon and charged a small shipping fee.For the few dollars I paid, it was well worth it to have a great map that folds up and takes little space in my suitcase. Once I get to a particular island, I take it with me to know where I'm going and where I've been. Bring along a Sharpie pen to mark the places you've been or want to return. The back side of the map has a blown up area of popular places, for example, Oahu has Waikiki Beach and the placement of hotels and landmarks. I highly recommend these maps for getting around the islands.
