It was too tight to fit the Council Tool 2# Hudson Bay Camp Axe; 18″ Curved Wooden Handle Sport Utility Finish. Would not fit on the axe head. But it did fit my old Hudson Bay Axe with 16" handle. So not a total loss.

It's great, beautiful and tough. Did not fit my gransfors small forest axe, the head is just a quarter inch too long. It might fit after a few sharpening. But it did fit another axe, and it is great. A mask for the whole axe head that can hang on your belt, with a snap. After shopping around, I found this to be the very best buy.

Fits my huskvarna hatchet like a glove. Slips in and out with no resistance and the leather and rivets are high quality. It has to be worked like a new baseball glove to get the hatchet to slip in and out easily. Straight out of the packaging it is stiff and fits but snuggly. Snug is fine if you use it rarely.

It fit my throwing hatchet so well I bought a 2nd one for my new hatchet that's not even here yet! Great quality and the belt loop thing is nice if you want it. I also like that it is also offered in black if I wanted 2 different colors

I bought the H&D whip holster and this hatchet sheath. The leather on both are great. The rivets on this hatchet sheath seem pretty beefy. I soaked the sheath with sheep lanolin (as I do with all my leather goods) and put the stock, plastic blade protector on the hatchet and pushed it into the sheath. The lanolin and blade protector helped to stretch the sheath. Then I removed the rubber blade protector and the fit is just great for my Collins Hunter's hand axe. Only one bad thing. It's what I took one star off for. The snaps on both the whip holster and this sheath don't hold too tightly. If you know how to bend a snap to make it tighter you may be fine. It's what I did, I didn't really see the need to send it back. If this is a systemic problem to H&D then it wouldn't have helped. I'd still recommend this product and company.

This is very well constructed and seems as if it will last among time. Full grain leather, smells great. It is an excellent value.I purchased it for a prandi German style hatchet (600g), and it is slightly small. The hatchet fits, but I really have to wedge it in. It may stretch with time as most leather does. This particular hatchet has a 4” blade, head is 6” long and 1-3/8” thick at the widest part of the eye.The sheath is particularly tight in the poll area; this hatchet has a slightly greater than 1” thick poll.Overall very nice quality, maybe they vary in size due to the handcrafted nature, but mine is fairly small for the application intended.Edit: I soaked the sheath with water and placed the hatchet into the sheath with the factory edge guard on it. Let it dry overnight and it stretched out nicely. Just loose enough to easily get in and out, tight enough to prevent wobbling around. Creates a nice form fit. Suggest following up with some leather lotion. The color did slightly fade out in a couple areas, but nothing terrible. Looks nice like a used tool should.
