These are neat little lights - they only use 0.5W steady, don't get hot on the outside, and in general are as simple as they could be. However, they are also extremely bright compared to most things you would think of as a "nightlight". See my comparison image to an RGB cycling teardrop-shaped nightlight, which is closer to something I would want to keep me from tripping over the toilet without the eye-searing clarity that would fully wake me up.Anyway, that's not to say they are bad but just that my plan of how best to use them has changed. Pop one into the end of a power bank and that's a flashlight. Put that in a thin frosted glass and you have a lamp. Hey, maybe your eyes are less sensitive than mine and it's a good flashlight for you!
