At almost half the price for most similar reels, I knew it might not be perfect but I was willing to take a chance. Without some work it may have failed prematurely (see other reviews???), but I spent some time on it & I'm happy with it.THE GOOD:- Pushbutton lock, exactly as pictured.- Solid construction, should be good for a long time.- Comfortable left hand grip for my relatively wide hands.- At this price point, very happy with the deal.THE NOT-SO-GOOD:- May be older stock. Reel did not spin freely, bearings were dragging from old thick grease.- "Crank" handle is small & hardware arrived loose.- No information about strength of the line included (not a deal breaker though).THE NOT-TOO-BAD:- Took some time to clean & relubricate the bearings, but not hard to do & the reel works great now. (FYI: Consecutive applications of penetrating oil, brake cleaner & "dry lube" spray)- Crank handle tightened easily, also added washers to help prevent some wear.- Extra reel of cheap string included...whatever.Overall, happy enough that I bought a couple more! 👍

The reel worked great the first time I used it. However, the second time I used it, it kept getting stuck on winding it up. Then it just locked up completely. I did not put it anywhere where it could have gotten dirty or had anything get stuck in it.

This is a great kite reel. Ver handy and easy to use. The only thing that I didn't quite like, was the plastic handle knob. It doesn't feel that strong, perhaps if it was a bit wider and could provide a better grip. Other than that, my son and I flew our kites and it worked great.After flying our kite a few times now. The reel got stuck and it wouldn't go any more. If feels as if the plastic parts may have worn out. Please fix on future reels.
