My bass went from large changes in pickups or tone controls making very little differnce to tiny ones making a big difference making the instrument capable of making a huge array of sounds comparatively. Your bass will likley also cut the mix with them at lower volumes; they are very clean and clear. This also means you will likley have to play in a very nuanced way because every detail will be heard.

I tried the black LaBella tape wound strings on my acoustic bass a couple of years ago and have been happy with them. So I tried these for my 5-string electric bass due to their similar construction (but different color). I'm not a full-time bassist. I'm a keyboardist and guitar player who sometimes plays bass. My style is more active than most bassists including higher string action and slides, which is why I've used flat wounds for decades. These strings feel great on my fingers, make very little noise, and they're very pliable. I haven't test driven them enough to fully evaluate tone though what I've heard out of my Fractal and studio monitors is good.

For years and years, I eschewed tapewounds, thinking they sounded "thuddy." Nothing could be further from the truth. These strings sound bright and clear, making my Carvin AC50 sound like a dream!

Wanted to give these a try but they are made like crap and don't fit most standard bass bridges.Don't work on a Warwick or a Yamaha bass. What a disappointment.
