I've been doing leatherwork for a few years now and don't know why I didn't buy one of these machines sooner. It has made doing finishing work a breeze. Getting that perfect finished edge to the leather has never been easier than with being able to sand the stitched together pieces to the same distance and then bevel and burnish them. Highly recommend this tool to anyone doing leather work.

Received product with chips in the wheel. Wheel didn’t fit on rod easily either.

This burnishing machine came extremely well packaged and all of the parts mentioned were included. The setup was easy and in no time I had it working for me. The sanding drum disks are a bit hard to install but I got mine on most of the way. I'll try some soapy water later as others have suggested. The burnishing side works great. It will slick the leather edges in no time. There is a bit of vibration at high speeds as the burnishing wheel is a little out of balance. So far I haven't found a need to run the machine over 6,ooo rpms to do the work I needed it to do and it runs pretty smooth at that speed and slower.

Are there any other burnishing wheel options for this machine? It works great but would like a smooth burnishing wheel for the backside of the leather.

Works as described for burnishing the edges on leather.Sanding cylinders fit but need persuasion with a small amount of water and dish soap and nylon faced hammer.Speed control a little wonky.Cheaper than equivalent Tandy machine.

I've had this a few months now and work with it often. I really like this machine. It does the job I ask of it and at a price that a hobbyist can afford. It's powerful enough to edge 12-13oz belt blanks and speeds up the process tremendously.

i bought this unit for slicking leather edges because i didn't want to pay Tandy prices for the same unit.but what i found out is, that the motor and the slicking drum work great (just don't drop the wooden drum) cracks easy. it's the rubber sanding drum that comes with the unit, it's to large for standard sanding sleeves. so with some modifications to the unit I've been able to use normal sanding sleeves. but otherwise the unit is great for the money you pay for it and its a lot cheaper than the alternative.
