I fixed my dell laptop with this thing. Laptop fell down and broke charger port. It is just plug and play. All you need is screwdriver for the back cover of laptop thus all.

As a retired computer field engineer who had to repair multiple laptops burned and broken boards in later years, the decision to make the power socket a separate, plugin part instead of soldering it directly is much appreciated. This replacement is identical to original, complete with ferrite bead.

My Dell XPS 13 9360 was showing "AC adapter not recognized" / AC adapter unknown, on startup, in the BIOS, in Diagnostics...The existing power jack appeared worn out. Some people online said some pin inside might have been causing a short or something. Fixing that internal pin had solved the problem... for them.I told myself "Hey, let's replace the whole jack instead of trying to unbend pins you can't even see".So, I ordered this power jack mini cable, opened the the bottom of the laptop, removed 4-5 screws, popped this new power jack right in, easy peasy. But it hasn't fixed ANYTHING....AC adapter is STILL not recognized.... The laptop powers up, after the Dell logo you get the error: "AC adapter wattage couldn't be determined, blah blah blah, press F1 to continue, F2 to enter setup.... F5 for diagnostics".... So...Yeah, it was easy to replace the power jack... But it still doesn't work.Keep on Google-ing for a solution...

My XPS 13 stopped charging during a vacation and even worse, the charger was shorting out. The jack was moving loosely in the laptop. I figured it would be soldered directly onto the board so I was very happy to see that it's just what you see here: the jack is held down with one screw and connected to the main board with a short cable. The hole on the jack that the screw goes into was broken and wires connected to it were broken and shorting out.I did have remove two screws from the board to get it out because the cable was partially run under it. I wasn't able to run the new cable under the board (it has thicker fabric) so I taped it down with some Gorilla Tape. The laptop no longer recognizes the Dell charger (it says charging but it doesn't know the charger's power) but the power of a replacement charger is recognized. Apparently the old jack damaged the original charger.I wish the screw hole on the jack was something stronger than thin plastic. I feel like it's going to break again.

My daughter's laptop wasn't charging because her port had failed. I ordered this and followed youtube instructions on installation. Was easy to do, took maybe a half hour total. Works great again! I took the opportunity to get her a new battery and install that too because hers was only holding a pretty short charge anyway.

Replaced without problem but the laptop does not charge the battery anymore. It says "plugged in, not charging". Laptop works fine using AC power only.I just reinstalled the previous OEM DC and the laptop now charges fine.Bottom line, get a OEM DC adapter or a different brand.Dell XPS 9360
