Very nice compass. Locks solid to keep its' setting, does not spread open during use. Opens up far enough for me to scribe 12" circles. The holder for .5mm lead is genius. The lead supplied was too soft for me so I'm running HB. (Your experience may vary.) Should have bought it a long time ago.

It's very nice and will meets the needs for most applications. Not exactly precision, but for $10 it's a winner.

I was really happy with this. Main reason i purchased it was due to the ability to fit a sharpie and other types of pens in it.

The mechanical pencil is junk, but there is an adapter for a regular pencil. For the thick lead option on the compass, there is a tiny sharpener to keep that lead sharp. The compass locks more tightly the larger the circle you are trying to make. The lock/unlock lever makes changing sizes easy. Gets the job done for schoolwork, may to be great for professional artists.

I had a hard time finding a quality compass. Some products included other stuff I didn't need. This one is perfect. Once you get the circle the size you want the compass locks in place to ensure that the beginning and ending of the circle meets. It also has an attachment in order to afix any type of drawing implement you might want to use to make your circle (e.g., pencil, pen, fine-tipped marker, etc.). It's exactly as advertised.

The main legs on this compass are metal and the locking mechanism works very well. My regular $4 Maped compass is decent for general use, but for precise measurements and drawing, this compass is great.
