Vise Grip has always been the clamp of choice. I have almost forty of them. I work in metal fabrication and can pretty much clamp everything I build together, so as to test for fit and function before I tack and weld it up. I clamp hard. Hard as my hands can squeeze. These clamps can handle it. A little more sloppy at the hinge points but nothing my hydraulic press couldn't fix.The nice thing is when I "pop" them to release( the fact they are clamped so hard ). My other grips come apart and often have to mess around with them, to slide the release back into place. Awkward if you only have one hand to spare.With these clamps you have to remove the adjustment screw in order to slide the release out. This is an initial review but I know tools and I am happy. At least after I removed the plastic handle cushions. They only serve to reduce my hands clamping force.In all I am very happy and plan to buy more. Based on the pictures and my knowledge of " over center " clamps, I expected as much. Now to try the Amazon Basics clamps but I held off because I don't like the articulating pads on them. Not a useful feature to me.... Possibly to others. That's for you to decide.

These clamps get the job done. They are very solid and don't bend/flex when clamped with all the strength you can muster. I've bout several sets and have not had any issues at all with them.

Use these at work. Held 100 pound metal sheets while I was in the air so I would say they are safe for the job.

You get two C Clamps for the price, which doesn't seem too bad. They're made of a decent quality and the handles are very comfortable. Honestly it depends on your project if these would be a good fit for you. Have to watch some woods, otherwise you'll have the round indents. Metal projects work great with these though, which is what I tried. They clamp tight and hold things into place as they should. Would be a great gift for the diyer.

I like the oversized adjustment knob with the added socket for using a hex key for more leverage.For welding, these clamps work great. The ends are not great for woodworking unless you don't mind leaving marks in the wood.
