I hope this is a fake knockoff for knipex sake. It barely has any clamping power to start with which is bizarre for vice grips. I used it on a screw yesterday that was stuck. The gripping part is completely ruined after…one Sheetrock screw. Complete junk.

Nice quality "vise-grip" style pliers from Knipex and Made in Germany. The red lever is used to release the grip. Seems to be well made with good weight. I compared it to my original actual Vise-Grip branded pliers and found it to be about the same in quality which speaks well about both brands. Price of the Knipex is only slightly more than the Vise-Grips. My only quibble about the Knipex is the adjustment bolt got slightly hung-up sometimes with some drag, but I expect that will smooth out. Time will tell about the durability.

These vise grips are above average quality but still substantially inferior to the quality I’d expect from Knipex. They are strongly built, significantly less wobble in design than other generic/cheaper vice grips. Howeve they fall short in materials, as the shiny chrome vanadium appears to be a coat and isn’t present on the tool in “moving areas” near the bolts. As a result, mine arrived with rust already forming in these uncoated areas. Quickly fixed with some wd40 but these areas will likely be at risk for rust.

I've been using Vice-Grips for decades, and they are a must have tool. The two most important things about them are 1) you may need a variety of different sizes and types.. and 2) the Vice-Grip name is no longer a sign of top quality (Irwin, made in China).The Knipex are best of the lot. A high quality German product, definitely worth the extra few dollars! Don't buy the re-branded Chinese generics at higher prices...otherwise you're just paying for Knipex (or more) but getting a lesser product. Knipex make all the best pliers.The 4104180 is a shorter length, with general purpose jaws. It offers lots of clamping potential without being a large or heavy tool. This can come in handy in tight spots, or where alternatives like pipe wrenches and adjustable pliers are unsuitable, plus when a locking tool is needed. Endless possibilities for general clamping and holding, and even great sometimes for quickly removing mangled fasteners. Recommended!

Everyone loves a good pair of vice grips. Unfortunately in the last couple years an original American innovation has been stripped, sold out, and cheapened up by moving to China. I'm an auto mechanic and use vice grips regularly and demand quality. The new vice grips are junk. Complete junk. I finally got fed up with them and started looking for an alternative. I have many knipex pliers and other tools, all with very high quality, so I decided to give their locking pliers a try. Problem solved, I will gladly patronize a great brand like Knipex, even if it means paying a few extra dollars to get a superior product. The finish and function of these pliers is outstanding. Give them a try and you'll dump your new pair of vice grips too.

Awesome little set of locking pliers. Since the other USA companies have sold out and cheaped out. I am tired of the teeth grinding off and no holding power. My hands are not gripping as well and these help me out and hold better. A good mechanism for release too and love this set. Will buy more in the future once I know the size I want. I kinda went blind on size this time, but they were exactly what I wanted. No cheap low wage country tool here!!! GREAT TOOL! Good job Knipex!!
