The item is built well and the fitment of the pins and the side saddle to the pins are fine. depending on which brand of ammo you use, will determine how tight the fit is of the ammo into the side saddle slots. installation went well, easily installed. the trouble came with the slide on a Remington 870 (non Tactical) with synthetic black (Remington branded) furniture. The slide, on the side of the saddle, was too long and would not allow the slide to come back on the receiver far enough to cycle a round of ammo into the receiver. by the description of the saddle, i assumed the saddle would work with any Remington 870 Express, that's not the case, at least not without getting out the Dremel and modifying the slide. I had to cut down the slide where it meets the saddle about 1 1/8th inch or so, notching it to allow the slide to come back far enough to cycle the ammo. It wasn't a big deal for me, as the shotgun is for home defense and not intended to be kept in pristine condition. I write this review because I know that many of you would not be happy with modifying your slide or perhaps cutting down the side saddle in order for the slide to function properly.

This is a very well-made part and was easy to install. My only issue is that the shells don't fit tightly, but in most conditions, they should be just fine. Unless you're going to war with it.! Looks good on the gun and this was cheaper than most all the others I looked at, or have owned in the past. I would buy one again when needed.

Works well but if you have a old factory long forend it will not work as they will hit each other and you can not rack it

I got this shell carrier for my Rem 870 that I use for casual weekend clay shooting. While this is an awesome product that I highly recommend, there are some important notes I hope a future purchaser will find helpful:I was surprised by the presentation. The carrier came in a sleek box and the actual hardware laying in some nicely cut foam. Already impressed! When I went to place it on my Rem I encountered some issues. While it was easy to get the two OEM trigger assembly pins out of the receiver, the two supplied for replacement didn't go nicely. DO NOT forcefully hammer these pins or you'll ruin them.First note: If you inspect the hole alignment, you'll notice some small metal clips that the pins need to pass over. While your OEM pins have a very slight taper on the ends, the new ones do not. I was able to fix this by taking some 200 grit sand paper and gently beveling one end of the pin so it would pass over the internal trigger assembly clip more easily. After I did, they slid right in with a few gentle taps.Second note: It's true, the supplied hex wrenches and screws for the pins aren't forged titanium. They're on the cheaper side. They can strip and bend. DO NOT over tighten these screws or apply unnecessary force. Instead, get a little blue (or red) loctite and put a tiny layer around the threads before you screw them in. Then you can hand tighten without worry of a loose screw or stripping the head. Send a few rounds down range then tighten them again.Third note: The actual carrier tension for shot shells is hit or miss depending on what kind of ammo you're using. Dummy rounds? Slide right out. Winchester Super Target? Perfect fit. Federal? Hold so tight I can't get em' out! Here's the fix: Cut some tiny squares of electrical or grip tape and stick them on the insides of the holders. You can create a little bit of tension by layering tape and it's practically invisible.

For the money you can't beat this side saddle. It installed in just a few minutes on my Remington 870. The quality is comparable to a tac star or ati side saddle but, at a lower price. Shells slide in and out easily enough but won't pop out while shooting. Overall this is probably going to be my go to side saddle option for all my pump shotguns from now on.
