First off the blank isn't anywhere CLOSE to straight!! I'll be lucky if I can salvage a pen out of this thing. Also I looks like it was pulled out of a fire place and then stabilized. There are inclusions that I'm not convinced are completely filled. 100% dissatisfied with this one!

Gorgeous material! I had adhesion issues pairing with other wood, to make ring blanks. Cutting small channels with a dremel and carbon disc into the mating surface before glue up seems to work.

Low quality off cuts. Four of the five were just barely big enough to turn in the fifth one was so small I ended up throwing it away.

Given as a gift, nice product, nice grain pattern. Over all, a good buy, shipping was a little pricey though since it came from Rockler directly.
