I'm constantly switching between handheld shooting and tripod work. I have a multiple ecosystems from different brands that gives me this flexibility. I wanted to compare them to Neewer, since it's a lot cheaper than competition. For the price, I was impressed by how sturdy it feels. The build quality is top-notch. With metal construction there's a nice heft to it, but not so heavy that it weighs down my rig. I paired it with my SmallRig V-mount battery, and the quick-release button made attaching and swapping it out very easy. The stretchable baseplate is a feature I didn’t know I needed until I started using it. It extends up to 1.4 inches, which gave me just enough wiggle room to fit my Panasonic GH6 perfectly without feeling cramped. The Arca-type dovetails on the bottom are great too. I can pop it onto my tripod or DJI RS3 gimbal in seconds. Switching from handheld to stabilized shots has never been smoother, and it’s cut down on the downtime that we tend to spend reconfiguring everything. The 180° tilting battery plate is another standout for me. I love that I can flip it vertical or horizontal depending on what my setup calls for. It’s especially handy when I need to tilt my camera’s flip screen out—there’s no obstruction, and I don’t have to detach anything to get the angle I want. Plus, when I’m done, it folds flat and slides right into my gear bag without taking up much space. That portability is a big deal for me since I’m often shooting on location. That said, it’s not perfect. The first time I used it with a Peak Design plate, I noticed the anti-off pin didn’t engage, which was a bit annoying since I rely on that for extra security. It’s something to watch out for if you’re a PD user like me. Also, while the twist-lock knob is easy to use, I found myself double-checking it after long shoots to make sure it hadn’t loosened up from all the movement.Overall, though, the NEEWER PS014 has been a reliable workhorse. It’s simplified my workflow, kept my camera powered longer with the V-mount setup, and held up through some pretty hectic shooting days. For the price, it’s tough to beat. It was on par with my other ecosystems. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking to streamline their rig without breaking the bank!

I use this to attach a V-Mount battery to a cage for a Lumix S5IIX, and it is a really nice alternative to the ubiquitous Arri rod-type bases frequently seen. The extensible base and flip-down design allow me to snug my battery right up against the back of my camera, while allowing quick and convenient access to the rear monitor should I need it and keeping the overall form factor more compact than a rod system would.Build quality is very nice anodized, machined aluminum, with well-made steel hardware components

So, I have the smallrig version of this and let me tell you, I am impressed how good this version is. For starters, it is more compact than the other. Do the same thing and feels very good and solid with the battery on it. Those 99 are heavy. Brackets, adjustments and accessories are all very well made.

I thought I had a defective piece of gear as the release knob looks like it's just spring loaded, but actually needs to be turned to release. Mine was stuck and I contacted the vendor and the support was OUTSTANDING! They sent me a replacement without being asked and helped me figure out the issue. Really great people, and a great addition to anyone's kit!

Great product but it doesn't fit a Peak Design plate. Works great for my S5iix that is always in a cage, but I want a v-mount plate kit that mounts to a PD plate for true hybrid use. Returned this one.As a hybrid shooter, I don't ALWAYS want my Z8 in a cage, but it seems that this one and the SmallRig V-mount plate won't attach to a Peak Design plate and both plates that come with the Neewer and SmallRig are both bulkier and stick out more which I just kind of hate. The Neewer will not fit a PD plate at all, no way. The SmallRig WOULD fit a PD plate, if you could adjust the clamp about 1mm but they loctite the threads so I stripped it trying... Super frustrating, since it would be an amazing thing to mount my cam to a V-mount for video/timelapse, and then pop it off to carry around with me throughout the day, without having to mount and unmount a cage every time. So I returned both and will wait.... Not so run-and-gun if I have to mount a cage first, to mount a v-mount holder... and leaving a cage on for daily carry photo is bulky and absurd.

I bought alot of Neewer stuff to go with my Sony FX3. On Black Friday, I got 2 of their v-mount batteries (PS099E) and this mount for them, as well as alot of other Neewer stuff. The v-mount batteries are top notch and probably a 5 star item. BUT! When you go to lock them into this mount, they do not go down enough to engage the locking mechanism. I was able to loose the bracket that is on the battery alittle, enough to let it go down a tad farther, and the lock half engages; but idk if I feel comfortable with it. Especially considering this mount is designed to be rotated back horizontal for camera button/screen access.Which segways us into the 2nd big issue with this mount is the flip clamp lever that is under where the battery would sit, the one that locks the position of the battery (vertical or horizontal). It hits the bottom of the v-mount battery at 90 degrees, stopping you from clamping it further. Then when you put it horizontal you cant clamp it at all. This is because the clamp lever goes up towards the battery, and hits; instead of down.I really really like their products but there are definitely some design kinks they need to work out on this product. I dont like to give 1 star reviews but this is an attempt to get them to remediate the design of this product and also cause readers of this review to not buy this exact mount.PS I may be able to get around both issues but 1: switching the clamp lever to the other side, which may cause it to tighten downward (away from the battery) 2: loosen the bracket on the back of the V-mount battery and space it out a tad (either doublesided tape/washer + locktite on screws).I will likely be returning this item. Their ps099e battery is definitely a workwhorse (lol) and a keeper

This is the second time I’ve used this item, and it broke. The quality is very poor, especially considering how expensive it is for such material.

Working on making training videos and content, wanted to convert our DSLR into a cinema rig. This frame/mount was a great choice to make it happen to add battery and other accessories. Lightweight, before all the weight is added, and so far has not had any issues coming loose through use.

The build quality of this is quite good, once tightened it doesn't feel like pieces will move much. The v-mount isn't the most secure, however it is more than sufficient for lighter rigs or less intensive use. It's built from all metal, so it feels pretty sturdy yet fairly light too.
