It serves its purpose as a tea ball, however, if you need to put a tablespoon of loose tea in there...this is not the tea ball you are looking for. I tried and ended up having to do a weird fill both sides and then slap together as fast as possible move. This is more than likely my fault, maybe I read this as it holds a tablespoon when it actually said teaspoon. I have been known to speed read some items. Other than that it's a great little tea ball.

It's pretty small. I'd suggest ordering a larger one.

Mine has been used in hot and cold teas and left in the cup accidentally and has not changed colors or "rusted". Appears to be a good product to me. I am very happy with it. I am by far not an expert. This is the first tea ball I have ever had. There is a brand of Tea at one of the big coffee places that only sells the tea I like in loose leaf form so I had to buy a strainer. The only con is that some of the tea does come out. I have tried putting the ball in before in and after I pour the water and it does not matter, I still get loose tea pieces in my tea. All the same, very happy with it.

Small and compact is just what I wanted. I use this for my spices when I cook meals on the stove top and in the slow cooker. It works great and is easy to use.

It doesn't close tightly, so I was getting loose pieces in my cup. It's okay in a pinch and for the price.

I like loose leaf and for many years mixed it directly with the water in the teapot. When water is poured over the leaves in the pot, they usually sink to the bottom and do not make their way into your cup. However, the tea gets stronger and more astringent as you come back for a second or third cup. And for making a single cup, I never found a good way to get the leaves to settle out. So I decided to try the tea balls to control the steeping process in the pot, or to make single cups. I ended up ordering all four different sizes of tea balls made by Norpro: 1-3/4, 2, 2-1/2 and 3 inch diameter. In general, the Norpro balls are well made and serve the intended purpose well. I also had previously purchased some generic brand tea balls of similar design, but cheaply made with a loose fit. The Norpro balls are of better quality and worth the slight extra expense. The stainless steel is bright and generally has closer fitting parts. In two of the tea balls I received, the closure of the two halves was not perfect, but I think this is common with these mesh balls. It's easy to fix with an adjustable wrench or pliers. Visually identify the gap and determine which half is not lying perfectly flat on the rim; then take the pliers and gently grip the edge to bend it slightly to the right position. I was able to get a perfect closure this way. As to the sizes - the diameter is to outer edge of the closure rim, not the ball itself. You can really only add tea to one side of the ball, as it's hard to close tight when tea is filled into both halves, because it spills out as you try to close it. The 1-3/4" diameter is well-sized for an individual cup, unless you make tea very strong. The 2" diameter works well in small tea pots (typical 2 cup size), although it's small enough top fit in a tea cup also. The 2-1/2" diameter is good for medium size tea pots (typically, 4-6 cups). I had to return the 3" diameter ball because it was too large for my 6 cup Betty Brown teapot, the largest I have. However, it would be fine if you have larger teapots. In general, just measure the limiting dimension of the tea pot lid and get the largest tea ball that will fit.
