I have had a DW9100AL (airlift throne) round throne for years. It is top of the line and excellent but it is very heavy and four legs instead of three seems overkill. I played a gig where the keyboardist had the Pearl Roadster. It was just as well built as the DW but significantly lighter and had three legs. So I bought this Pearl as part of an effort to lighten my drum gear bag including changing out my similarly excellent but heavy DW 9000 series chrome cymbal stands and Machined HiHat to lighter Mapex black plated stands and hit hat which are very well made and match my kits black chrome drum hardware as a bonus.

This throne is great — easy to adjust height, comfortable, and pretty wide.The only thing is that the lift handle spins with the seat, so it can be hard to locate the handle sometime without looking under.

Nice lightweight base, and smooth hydraulic action. The seat top is hard as a rock.. look elsewhere if you have tailbone pain.

I have been playing on the Pearl Roadster D-1000N for many years...I have two of them that go between rehearsals and gigs. When I saw that pearl was upgrading the throne I said...why not, so will I. This Multi-Core seat is the most comfortable thing I have had the pleasure of sitting on in my career, so much so that when I went back to my old Roadster, the seat felt quite hard. The throne also feels really sturdy while banging away on the drums. No movement or swinging of the seat and feet stay firmly in place.I have no complaints about this throne. I know that every drummer has his or her preference but I would definitely give this a try if you are in the market for a new throne.
