I was able to use this socket to torque the Ball nut on my e2 Fastway 6K WD Hitch. However, I had to grind off about 1/16" off the shoulder all the way around for it to fit. I still had to use a big end wrench to start and compress the washer, then I put this socket on and torque to correct specification. Now I can check torque periodically. For only $15.00 compared to Equalizer socket that costs $65-$90. This socket is a great deal with only 10 minutes of grinding.

Fraction of the cost of getting one from equalizer. You have to have the thin wall version and this is perfect. Make sure you also get either a 3/4 to 1/2 adapter and use a good 1/2in breaker bar, or also get a 3/4in drive wrench for it.

I purchased the Equalizer 10K weight distribution hitch that did not include a ball. After reading the reviews and install notes, it was very quickly notes that this 1 7/8” thin walled socket was needed to install properly. The unit that Equilizer sells is listed at $80, and this worked just as good and 1/4 of the price. The socket did get scratched a bit during install, but worked as expected when needed.

Usually I don't review too many things, but after getting this thing, as it was the only one I could find without 3 weeks worth of shipping.... thank you by the way .... it seemed just a little too big, it wouldn't quite go in... so I WAS disappointed, but after looking for another thin walled socket locally to no avail, not even in a set, and also must order for 2x the cost... I found the secret sauce. So in case anybody is semi-retarded like me... You put the equalizer hitch head and attach it to the shank. Install that in your truck receiver upside down, so the ball would be facing the ground. Put the socket up on there so it seems like it doesn't quite fit the hole... then grab one of the stabilizer arms and move the bar connections around and you will find a combo that the socket drops right down into the hole. I think mine was like one almost 90 degrees from the hole the other maybe like 120... but there is a spot where the socket will fall right down into that hole. Then take it out, stick the ball in there, start the nut and tighten like a crazy person (bonus that the hitch is in the truck receiver so you can shove your body weight against it). Pull back just a little to get the socket loose and pull it right out and hope that it never comes loose again :)It does fit though! I thought it was the hole size (and it does fit tight!) but the back of the arm sockets are what is in the way. If you move the arms just right it plops right in. At least on an equalizer 14k .. Looks like 12 and 10k at least are all same ball stud dimensions, so I imagine it is the same for those also.

Fit in my Equal-i-zer hitch to tighten the ball. I used it once and will probably never need it again. I also bought a to go with it. Those who have said it won't fit their Equal-i-zer hitch could have a slightly different casting. It was snug in mine but it worked.

I purchased this socket for tightening the nut on my trailer hitch ball. The socket fit perfectly and with a long handled torque wrench it torqued the to the recommended 170 ft lbs. It did not slip of and hugged the nut great. The socket was shipped and recieved on the promised dates. The item was packaged and packed as required and was recieved undamaged. It looks as advertised very high polished chrome and heavy duty to withstand some rugged use. Well worth the price for this high quality tool.

One year after buying my Equalizer hitch I found the nut was loose as I was unhitching, maybe by two turns. Pretty scary, could have lost the entire trailer. Turns out grease from the ball and trailer coupler had been slowing working its way between the base of the ball and hitch allowing the trailer to twist the ball thereby slowing untightening the nut underneath. I learned with heavy trailers this can be a perpetual problem.Took it to the local RV shop and they didn't have the correct thin wall socket. I ordered this socket and a Tekton 24" breaker bar. At $65/hour shop time this solution is least costly and more assured. The socket fits perfectly. Standing on the 24" breaker bar my 170 lb. weight creates about 340 foot lbs. of torque. I jumped up and down an got the nut a little tighter. Should be fine with regular checkups.

I bought this socket to complete an axel overhaul on my '66 Austin-Healey Sprite. It came quick did its job quietly and confidently and assumed its position as the largest socket in my drawer, where it will quite likely live in retirement for years.Would it stand up to harder more daily use. Can't tell, but it seems well made for lighter duty, if frequent use. The large size of the nut it fits suggests a fair bit of torque to loosen or tighten. It might be just fine for HD use, but for lighter use I would say you are making a good investment.
