Product is as advertised. The XL model does extend a bit lower from other models. So keep this in mind. Product is great and functions great.

Shipping box was beat up but internal boxes appeared fine. Installed all components, then removed plastic from step platform to install and found this… extremely unhappy that $2400 dollar steps arrived like this…worst part is I had already installed the rest of the setup at this point. Item literally arrived about 5 hrs ago on UPS truck

I’m a do-it yourself guy. I abhore paying for something I’m capable of doing myself. I’m also mechanically inclined, so it is logical I would do this install myself even without things like a lift. With that said, if you’re also like me and you are thinking about installing these steps yourself, just understand that it’s not always as easy as it sounds.First, my install was on a 2024 Chevy 1500 ZR2 AEV Bison. The reason that is notable is because that vehicle comes from the factory with rock sliders and inner wheel well liners. Those two things greatly increased install times.Second, and not related to the product, was the conditions of the install: flat concrete driveway shaded from the sun, but still almost 100 degrees.Third, and this is related to the product, is that the instructions are barely adequate with a couple of steps downright inaccurate. This was frustrating when you account for the cost of this product.Fourth, ideally it’s a two person job. Especially when bolting the main step rails to the body mounted brackets that also have to be installed. This is primarily due to their length and weight. But a creative individual can get it done.Fifth, inner wheel well liners, like I have, will either have to come out to route the harness from the engine compartment down either side of the frame rails, OR, you will have to be mechanically inclined to get it done. I chose the latter method, as removing the inner wheel well liners may have also required removing the wheels and tires. Not an option for me since I didn’t have the tools for that.Sixth, the wiring to both step motors was backwards. Resulting in the steps deploying when the doors were closed, and retracting when the doors were opened. This required cutting and splicing four wires underneath the truck to the step motors. Inexcusable for such and expensive product.All of these things contributed to the installation time to be nearly 10 hours over two days. The instructions say it’s a 3-5 hour job. And that may well be - if under ideal circumstances with a lift and no inner wheel well liners - and correctly wired motors.I’m 61 years old and I’m not as spry as I used to be. Maneuvering under a truck on concrete (no creeper) in nearly 100 degree heat for hours isn’t easy any more. But there is a sense of accomplishment when such an hard task is complete.Do I like the results? Yes and no. I would have preferred to keep the rock sliders that the truck came with as I do go off-road. But my wife couldn’t easily get in using them and so this needed to be done. It’s much easier for her now and sure, it’s easier for me also.But, the cost of these steps is getting to the point of being ridiculous. It’s better priced at around $1,500, imo. AND, the instructions need to be better detailed and accurate. The high cost, faulty instructions, and miss-wired motors results is a 3 star rating.Would I buy them again? No. There are much cheaper options available that will fit the need. Think about those before you overpay for these.If you do opt for these and you have a vehicle that has inner wheel well liners, and you don’t have a lift, and especially if your aren’t highly mechanically inclined, pay a shop to have them installed and save yourself the trouble. Unless you’re like me and have a little bit of a stubborn streak.
