It measures R134a and R1234yf! What else can you ask for? I got a couple of cans and tested it out and it beeped when I purged a tiny amount of gas. Excellent!!!

I’ve always wanted a refrigerant leak detector and I finally decided to grab this one. The features I preferred include a rechargeable battery, an easy to read display, audible and visual alarms, and a long sniffer probe. This unit fit the bill plus some. I really like the three level alarm based on concentration of refrigerant detected. The audible alarm will increase in intensity the closer you get to the leak helping you pinpoint the location. I replaced a condenser in my Audi A4 and this helped me confirm the connections were leak-free.

I don't know much about how these detectors work, so it's hard for me to say how accurate it is, but what I can say is that when trying to detect leaks in several vehicles, it did seem to sense refrigerant in areas that were likely to have a leak- when the sensitivity was turned up on high. These were vehicles that do not have an active refrigerant leak, so the fact that it detected refrigerant from the installation was impressive. The instructions for this item are lacking though. There is not a good description of how to use it or what each function does anywhere online or in the package. This was disappointing for me, being a novice. When doing comparisons of similar products, this seemed to be competitively priced, making it a good value.The detector comes in a case that is sturdy and does a good job protecting it and the detector seems to be made from strong plastic. I think with a little care it should hold up to most reasonable use. I am happy with this product, but because of the lack of instruction, I have rated it 4 stars

Excellent price/value combination. I can only test it with automotive refrigerant and the sensor picks up R134a very well. Display is a nice addition, but it is much easier to rely on the sound, especially if you work out in the sun or in well-lit areas.High sensitivity to halogenated gases makes this detector a universal tool for automotive and HVAC uses.Detector uses a heated diode sensor that should last at least 10 years.Longer sensor end makes it easier to track refrigerant tubes in cars and reach connectors without getting under the car.The manual is clear and easy to follow. It comes in 4 languages, but you do not really need it, the detector is very intuitive and easy to use.Storage box is of the average quality and seems to be made to fit different devices.
