I attached this to the end of an RV water hose and filled some 55 gallon drums with water. The water tasted like it had just come from a spring. I highly recommend this filter. Great value and quality.

I got this to use in my popup camper. We like to stay at state parks, and the water quality is often not that great there. Even if we fill the tanks at home, the fill is coming from our outdoor spigot, and not filtered. We've been spoiled with reverse osmosis for drinking at home, and this filter will at least cut down on the chlorine taste. In my testing, I could definitely tell a difference before and after using this filter. There was no discernible chlorine taste after using this filter, so now we can enjoy better water quality during our trips.I like that this kit includes a short pigtail hose, which you can use on either the input or output side of the filter. You can hook the pigtail to your camper inlet, with the filter hanging off it and the supply hose running to the supply spigot, or you can use the pigtail on the supply spigot, then the filter, and then the supply hose to the camper. The pigtail has a fairly stiff spring around it to prevent kinks, so it can support the weight of the filter without worry.I had to flush the filter for about a minute, then let it sit for a minute, then flush it again for 30 more seconds to completely flush out the charcoal dust. The manual says it can handle up to 15000 gallons of water, which would be plenty of camping trips for us, since we are weekenders and not full time RV-ing. For the price, I'd probably replace it each year like they suggest, mostly because I feel it might develop some mold or mildew sitting over the winter while damp. The one thing I wish was included were two plugs/caps for either end of the filter. When you disconnect the filter, it will be full of water, so you either need to cap it off, let it drain (slowly), blow out the water, or put it in a plastic zip-loc style bag. I ended up blowing the water out with my mouth on the inlet side, and then putting it in a water resistant tool pouch. It fits perfectly in one of the tool pouches I got with this tool bag: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CQVRL9BM. I use this tool bag to organize the tools for my camper, and the 12 inch tool pouch is a perfect fit to hold the filter and the pigtail, and the inside has a water resistant lining, so hopefully it will contain whatever water might still be in the filter after use.I'm happy with this filter, for 15 dollars it will provide at least one season of much better tasting water.

I ordered this ‘Vistar Water Technologies RV Water Filter & Hose Protector’ to keep as a spare water filter in my RV. I like using the inline filters on my rig, because they are so convenient….no changing cartridges or anything like that. This ‘Vistar Water Technologies RV Water Filter & Hose Protector’ is every bit as good as the name brand set I paid twice as much for at the camping store. It filters the same contaminants in the water as the others do. And actually the percentage of contaminants removed by this is a bit higher…99% versus 97.8%.I like the lead hose on this filter better, however, because it has a metal protector around it. I don’t have to worry about the hose kinking, because it’s a lot more rigid. All in all, this ‘Vistar Water Technologies RV Water Filter & Hose Protector’ is a great choice in an inline water filter. It works well…is easy to setup and use…comes with a sturdy connector hose…and is priced right. What more can I say?!?

I've wanted to try one of these but have never bought one. This was a great chance to try one out. It seems to restrict water flow a little bit but I'm not sure how much. I get a lot of sediment from the city water and hate to use it to wash cars for this reason. I was able to fill 2 white 5-gallon buckets and I couldn't see any particles floating around. I'd say this is catching anything you could normally see in the water. If I can get 6-months out of this washing cars, it would be a hit. We shall see!
