Salsbury 4800 Series Heavy Duty Rural Mailboxes are U. S. P. S. approved. Manufactured by Salsbury Industries to USPS-STD-7B specifications. Made entirely of aluminum. Constructed of a 1/8" thick extruded aluminum body with a 1/8" thick die cast aluminum front door and rear cover. The die cast door is attached to the body with a full-width stainless steel hinge allowing for smooth operation. Salsbury Industries is an ISO 9001: 2008 certified company and has excelled in the field of manufacturing since 1936.

Bought Sept. 2019. Happy initially. Peeling and paint loss throughout began 2 years into it (too cold out and embarrassed to take a pic). Have cleaned and touched up with Rustoleum yearly. 5 1/2 years later it's awful. I guess someone could consider I got my money's worth, but it's disappointing. Have enough on my plate with house maintenance. Didn't think I'd have to add a mailbox to my list. Wanted a nice quality box, was willing to invest the $, but now thinking a plastic one would have lasted longer. Aughhhhh!

Came in quick. This is the second one of these I've installed at a house. They are sturdy, very well built, and seem to last.

The mailbox was a present for a family member. We'd ordered one for ourselves a few years ago. The construction is very good quality, but this time the paint quality was poor: splotchy overall, and so light in places you could see the aluminum through it. At first KartIt wouldn't pay return shipping costs (nearly $50), but Amazon interceded. We finally got a prepaid shipping label, returned the item, and today we received notice that they refunded only $144 of a $170 order. SALSBURY quality seems to have taken a slight downturn...but KartIt seems even sketchier.

This is an expensive rural mailbox, however, it is strong and durable. We usually have to replace our mailbox every 2 years because of snow plows and vandalism. So far this one seems much stronger than standard mailboxes.

My new mailbox from Salsbury Industries has a classic, yet vintage appearance. It is very well built and quite durable. It has a large capacity for several pieces of mail. A strong magnet keeps the door closed, while maintaining a perfectly dry enclosure, even in the worst storm. My mail carrier said, "I wish more houses had a mailbox like your's, it is so difficult to shove mail into small mailboxes or slots in doors." I like it!!! It has a quality feel and there are several ways to mount it that give a very sturdy result. If you are not planning on using one of the standard mailbox posts, it helps if you are an experienced DIYer but even if you are not, mounting this mailbox is not rocket science. The magnet is a nice touch, as is the handle on the door.We have had some rain since I installed it but no torrential downpours, so even though it has stayed dry inside so far, it hasn't been subjected to any extreme rains.With the caveat that I have only had it for a week, I would buy again and recommend it. If I experience anything to change this review I will update.

I LOVE this mailbox. I was deciding between a steel mailbox and this cast alliminum mailbox and I am so pleased that I chose this one. It is very well made and also lovely to look at. I live in rural Australia and it is heavy and strong to withstand our conditions. And it won't rust. Just wish it could have said 'AUS POST' on the front of it. Lol. Thank you for this top quality product.

We love this mailbox! Had it almost a year now. Very sturdy. Mail doesn't get wet. Plenty large for normal mail, and very deep. I don't live in a "rural" setting, but wanted an aluminum mailbox for coastal weather/salt air. It is still very white, and flag is red. Includes satisfying "clunk" from the magnet that holds the door closed - which I hear from inside so I know when the mail has arrived. Excellent product.

Purchased this mailbox as a replacement for my old one. I was a little hesitant to buy this one because of the price. I first purchased the matching post (4800). My old mailbox would not attach to the new post due to the fact that the mounting holes did not match up, so I purchased this mailbox. I'm glad that I did. This mailbox is a quality product well worth the higher price. It is very well constructed and looks great with the matching post. It should last for a very long time. I highly recommend this product !!!
