These are my favorite strings. We have a dozen acoustics in the house and these go on a Martin D35 and they also sound spectacular on a Taylor mahogany dreadnought. I'd put them on every guitar but they are more expensive than the average Martin and Ernie Ball strings. Still, I had them on my Taylor for a year with no degradation of sound. Now I am a fingerstyle player, so none of my guitar strings see heavy strumming, but a year is a long time between string changes for me. The point is these strings may be worth the extra money, especially if you hate changing strings. Sound? Very full across the spectrum. Sound is hard to describe, but the strings seem to pull a lot of character from the wood. The guitars really blossom, and the low tension strings are very playable, much easier on the fingers than the average 12/54 pack. They don't advertise their string width at Santa Cruz. The strings may be fat for all I know, but the low tension makes them easier to play. I have a little Taylor GS mini that thrives on medium strings, and I may grace it with these strings so I don't have to feel the discomfort of the medium string size. My next experiment. Honestly, I can't imagine anyone not liking these strings. If you have a solid wood guitar, then you are in search of the perfect sound like the rest of us. I think I have found it in these strings.

I’m loving these strings. They really bring out the best in my acoustic and archtop guitars. Great tone, feel and longevity. Nice work, Santa Cruz!

After trying one set on my Lowden guitar (which sounds great with any strings), I was floored: more precise and defined bass, full and rich midrange, and the highs got trimmed just the way I wanted! They feel good and are easy to play. I cannot attest to longevity yet, but I plan to string my other hand-made acoustic when time comes. At this price, they aren't cheap, but totally worth it.

I just replaced my Martin Retro strings on my 000-15M today with these Santa Cruz low tension acoustic strings. The guitar sounds brighter and I like the feel. The major negative I have is that every other set of strings I have purchased had each string in its own paper sleeve, clearly identifying the string. But Santa Cruz chooses to wrap them together in sets of 2 and put them in one plastic bag with no further identification. So you think the strings would be wrapped as they are on the guitar, low E wrapped with A, etc. But no, it was E/D, A/B, and D/E. I had to lay them out to see what was what. Come on Santa Cruz….for the price of these strings, you can do better on your packaging.

Reading about these strings seemed interesting, so I purchased several sets of their low tension model. There is more string noise than my Elixer strings which the Taylor Factory had recommended for my K14 CE and I have used, but what is very disappointing, is the metallic smell and corrosion staining that I get on my fingers- with as little as the second use. I only play in air conditioned environments, and clean the strings with String Fuel after every use. As far as the mounting of the strings , their playability and their sound, I hear nothing that would justify paying more for these strings than for D’Addario or Elixer which are at least $4-$5 less expensive. I always wash my hands before I pick up my guitar, but now have to wash them AFTER I play to get the metallic smell and stain off my hands.

I have tried many different types of acoustic strings and have finally settled on these as the best out there. They sound great, feel great to play on and last pretty darn long. I wish they were a couple of bucks cheaper but I’m not going to change. Love these strings!
