If you are not familiar with this item, think of a letter "C" made out of stiff, heavy wire. Slip the open part of the C over the pieces that you want to join, then apply pressure to close the C tightly. There is a special tool just for this purpose, but I have always used just an ordinary set of pliers, and that works very well. I find these staples to be ideal for joining sections of fencing, creating a hinge between two sections of fence, creating a small cage out of chicken wire, repairing a horse halter, fixing a dog leash . . . once you have them on hand, they will be your go-to whenever this thing needs to be attached to that thing. If necessary, you can even make a chain out of them, just by joining them to one another. Before I discovered these staples, I was using bits of string, twist ties, any pieces of pliable wire I could find, and even bread bag clips. Just like office staples, these come stuck together in rows, and just like office staples, they separate easily where you want them to. It is possible to re-open the staple after you close it, but this is not easy to do: I find that it takes two sets of pliers, bending in opposite directions. The staples are strong enough that they can be re-used several times, but I'm sure they must lose some of their strength each time they are bent open, and then re-closed. I consider these staples to be a basic necessity. They do come in other sizes, but for me, this 5/8-inch size is most useful.

Just what was needed. Make sure you check sizing, these are 16ga, will go around car seat springs, too small for the wire framing, but will work in a pinch. The tape backing sticks well, makes loading easy.
