Safety mirrors are used to help increase visibility in a variety of locations; for example, in hallway intersections and sharp turns, and in driveways and loading docks where drivers have to back up or enter traffic. Safety mirrors are sometimes called security mirrors, and they can be used to extend the view of security personnel, or to help monitor factory workers and automated processes to improve quality control and productivity. For convex mirrors, objects will appear to be further away than they are, and will be easier to see in a larger mirror. Depending on visibility conditions and the viewer's eyesight, objects will usually be recognizable within about 1 ft. of distance (including distance from eye to mirror, and from mirror to object) for each inch in mirror diameter.

See All Industries manufactures safety and security mirrors. The company, founded in 1958, is headquartered in Chicago, IL.

My little garden is shaded by trees, doesn't get enough sun, so I installed this mirror to increase the sun exposure. Being convex, it diffuses the light, no danger of overheating. Installation was simple. It has stood up to rain and wind (we don't get snow around here). I don't know how much the mirror contributed, but we had our best tomato crop this year.

When you live rural and your doors and windows don't face the road, this is an ideal way to see what the dogs are fussing about without having to actually open the door. Great security feature.Easy install, literally took more time to determine appropriate location than the actual install.Absolutely recommend.

Montana's semi-arid mountains and valleys are subject to temps from well-below Zero to the three-digit range. While mounted outside, this 18" Heavy-Duty Outdoor Convex Security Mirror has shined through twenty seasons of the mountains' direct sunlight and high winds, has run the gamut from heavy rain to sleet to hail to snow and ice, and has always performed above expectations. We plan to purchase a second mirror one size smaller this fall and allow the original to gracefully retire.

It was easy to mount, turns a little for fine tuning the view after mounted. Clear enough image reflected for our needs. We can see someone walking but facial features are not discernible until they are about 12 feet away from the mirror which we mounted at the junction of our porch roof and the wall. Hummingbirds next to the mirror on their feeder are very clear and often try to scare the reflected bird away. The increased view of our yard and flowers to enjoy from inside was an unintended but very nice bonus. I am considering another mirror to help view the backyard.

We live in the mountains and our 1/4-mile-long driveway is steep and winding with visibility blocked by heavy rhododendrons and trees. One of the sharpest curves is also at one of the steepest areas and we've come to realize that it's an accident just waiting to happen. While there's not heavy traffic on our driveway, there have been a couple of instances when "perfect timing" resulted in near collisions -- the most recent being me driving up and meeting a UPS truck barreling down the driveway. We met unexpectedly on this sharp curve and skidded to a stop only inches apart. I did an Amazon search for convex security mirrors and placed an order that same day.We decided to go with the 18-inch version of this mirror. For the first couple of weeks, I sort of wished that I'd ordered the next size up. Because the mirror is in a heavily wooded area, I felt that it wasn't as visible on overcast days. We're still happy with it, though. It's working well for us now and both the UPS man and our mail carrier have thanked us for installing it.The mirror arrives well packaged with the support bracket attached upside down (for easier packaging). It's very easy to install. Just detach the support bracket and reattach it as shown on the instruction sheet. The mirror and bracket come with two long screws for attaching to a fixed location such as a building, fence, etc. For our purposes, we attached the mirror's bracket to the upper part of a post on our split rail fence that borders our driveway. I've included a couple of pics of the mirror -- one showing its placement at the top of a fence post and the second pic showing the bracket installation (with one screw still only halfway in). One important part of installation is figuring out the degree of upward/downward and side-to-side tilt that gives you the most benefit from the mirror. This only took us a few minutes to determine exact placement and then the simple installation only took a few minutes more (we did pre-drill holes into the fence post for the long screws).

Very well made, clear mirror. At first I wasn't sure if the 18" mirror would be big enough but it is perfect. Fits well on the fence post (12" round post) and has great visibility. I can now see the road from my driveway and feel safe turning onto the road. If there was one thing I would change it would be how it connects to the post. It sticks out a couple of inches instead of being flush. There is a nut that holds it together and I fear someone could easily steal it. Hopefully the superglue I put on it will make it a bit harder.

There is a blind area outside my house that I could not see from any window or door. When a car came down my driveway and parked in front of my garage, I was totally unable to look outside and see it or its occupants. We ordered this convex mirror after searching many websites trying to determine exactly what would meet our needs. The seeall.com site was very helpful in describing their various convex mirrors, uses of each one, and mounting instructions. The model we chose PLXO 18 has an ABS backing that is perfect for outdoor use. We decided against the more expensive stainless steel backing, and it appears the ABS heavy-duty plastic will be quite durable. We also decided against a glass mirror in favor of the acrylic. The image shown in the acrylic mirror is just fine. The 18" diameter we chose reveals 18' of viewing area (1"=1' viewing area) and that covers the entire front of my house which was totally 'blind' to me before. It is mounted high on my house outside my window and due to its pivotal (swivel) bracket design, we were able to angle it exactly where it was needed. It has been 1 month since we installed it, and I am very happy with this purchase, and look forward to years of service from it.
