Great radio RD218

Features.

1. Compact and lightweight, only 4.9*2.7*0.8 inches in size, using 2*AA batteries, easy for you to carry or put in the emergency kit.

2. Advanced digital chip is used, the sensitivity and reception performance is very good. The headphone sound is very good.

3. The screen and buttons are backlit with orange, which is very convenient to use at night.

The package does not contain batteries. Please purchase AA batteries separately.

About the battery:

1. Please use 1.5V alkaline battery, 1.5V will show full power (4 cells). After using the battery for a period of time, the battery will drop to 1.2V, at this time the radio shows 2 cells of electricity, when the battery voltage drops to 1.1V, the battery shows no power, the radio will not work, no sound, the display has a fuzzy display, but not clear.

2. Please do not use 1.2V rechargeable batteries, because when you put in, the radio can only show 2 cells of electricity, after using a period of time, the battery down to 1.1V, the radio will not work.

3. Please do not use inferior batteries, because when the inferior batteries are unloaded, the test will be 1.5V. When loaded into the radio, through the load, the voltage drops quickly, it is possible to 1.1V after the radio will not work. Poor quality batteries do not provide enough power to the radio.

4,Please do not expect enough cues when the battery is dead, because the circuit will not work properly after 1.1V. When the alkaline battery voltage drops to 1.1V, it is basically depleted of energy. Please replace the battery with a new one.

The radio has excellent sound, sensitivity and selectivity. In the past I always avoided digital radios and preferred analog tuning because it was always superior and less expensive. This radio uses an excellent IC which performs extremely well. It's performance is equal to or better than analog tuning systems. Analog tuning systems often have drift due to temperature changes and weakening batteries. This radio has absolutely no drifting. It has nice features such as 3 station presets for each band. An alarm clock is nice as well as a snooze timer for auto shut off from 10 to 100 minutes. The only complaint is the time only has 24Hr format. This might be an issue for those not familiar with military time. Performance is best on FM. AM is subject to the usual noise but is still good. Shortwave is good but may require an external antenna for weaker stations. In the United States there are no English none religious shortwave stations. Most stations on shortwave in North America are in Spanish which is in issue for non Spanish speaking people. Since I speak Spanish, this is not an issue for me. There are English language stations over seas but one may need to do some research to find them. The price is an excellent value for the money.

The radio work fine. It has a telescoping antenna that can be completely retracted in for easy storage. It can receive FM stations, AM stations, and even Short Wave. The short Wave is what made this so interesting to me.Like I said, everything works fine. The downside is this thing looks and feels very cheaply made. Everything is plastic and it just feels like it won't take much to break iit. It also takes two AA batteries, which this does NOT include. This thing isn't super expensive but in my opinion it's about $10 more than it should be.

This is the first time I've ever seen a pocket transistor shortwave radio. It gets pretty good reception on AM and FM and OK on shortwave (about like most shortwave radios I've tried). My only complaint is that the clock is 24-hour only, no way to change it to 12-hour.
