As another review stated that this product is out of spec. for Kohler 229826. It will not fit over the shaft. I believe the keyway is too small but it's a no go. Put old part back on without issue.

These are supposedly "Interchangeable with Kohler 229826."I couldn't get it to fit over the shaft. Same deal with the replacement from Amazon. But the part it was replacing easily slid onto the shaft (albeit without the vanes).I went to the local Kohler dealer, and purchased an OEM Kohler 229826. The OEM part slid onto the shaft easily.I've had good experience with genuine Sierra parts in the past. And I would buy them again from big western marine retailers. You can draw your conclusions as to why this part was out of spec here.

Easy fix for my Kohler marine generator. My generator died and was overheating (of course, in the middle of vacation on a mooring). No seawater output and I knew it had to be the impeller (my seacocks and through-hulls were verified clear). Once you have the impeller in hand, this is a 10 minute do it yourself project with minimal tools. Very easy fix.I have a Kohler 6.5cz generator from the early 2000s. Be sure to replace the rubber gasket on the impeller cover at the same time (it is included). Also try to account for missing impeller blades when removing the old impeller. Dish soap works great as a lubricant to get this back on the spindle.
