It flops around too much and trying to use it is difficult because of that. If some of the joints were tighter it would perform better.

It's one of those things for which there's no real substitute. Pulling a gear really does require this tool. Improvised MacGyver solutions generally don't work.And I'll also say that this sized one works for those smallish/middling gears, however there are larger ones available that you can use to, oh, remove a brake disc from car that has rusted to the wheel.This is, therefore, a necessary tool for such applications. And this one is made crazy great. It's heavy, sturdy, and has all the parts needed. I found it a little fussy to arrange the arms, but then that tends to be a weakness of these tools in general.If I had a nit, it would be that the hand crank is just that...a hand crank. I would have loved to see a design where I can fit the rod into an impact driver bit to help loosen those rusted on components. But again, that's a nit.A good product, and I like it a lot.
