I love SmallRig stuff. When I saw this I had to order it. The last cage I had was the SmallRig Black Mamba for my Lumix S5IIX. I like that one because it fits so tightly around the camera and I just keep it on there for protection whether I have it kitted out or not.This one will be no different. It fits nice and tight to the body, so it's not going to snag on your camera bag. I like that there is a NATO rail on the one side. I have a NATO handle from Neewer and was happy to see that the color is pretty close to this gunmetal finish. The NATO rail is far enough forward that it does not interfere with any of the I/O ports. It would have been nice if there were at least one 3/8-16 with locating pins instead of all the same 1/4-20. But I have the parts to make it work. The 1/4-20 threads on the handle side make more sense. This side is surprisingly comfortable and it is nice to have a little more finger room when holding the camera.I also like that there is a strap spot on the bottom in addition to the ones on the side. I have three PGYTech quick release balls on there and I like to strap one to the side and one to the bottom so that my lens rests less conspicuously against my side. It makes it quick to bring the camera up from an upside-down position to get the shot.The top of the cage does not block any of the controls, but it slightly blocks the view of the mode dial. If you know your camera well this won't be an issue. It is great that it does not block the hot shoe at all and that there is an additional cold shoe on one end.Just another great, well-thought out cage from SmallRig. This is never coming off.

I almost exclusively use Smallrig cages on my cameras, and was excited to see that this cage leaves a lot more space to add a mic to the MIS shoe. The added grip pad is also nice, making the camera easier to hand-hold. My only small gripe with it is that you likely have to remove the eyelet on the left side of your camera for the cage to sit properly. I often use my camera for stills as well and would take the cage off in those situations, which would add an extra step for me to attach a strap. Otherwise, excellent build quality, functionality, and expandability!

In terms of fit and finish, overall craftsman ship and quality of materials, this cage meets expectations for a semi-professional piece of gear. They did a good job overall in making sure this cage provides a lot of functionality, while not interfering with the camera's default functionality. It does well not to block port covers and so on, and overall does not add a ton of bulk to an otherwise small camera, makes it slightly better to hold if you've a large hand. Super nice to have arca-swiss on the bottom of your camera if you've that type of mount on your tripod. Also very very pleased to have the added clamp for the hdmi cable as it's known that the mini connector on these cameras is a weak point otherwise, and this gives you a little bit of peace of mind on that front. Overall seems worth the $60 dollar price point.

While i use several different camera bodys, from Sony, Canon, & Nikon.I've always found the camera cages from Smallrig to fit well and be sturdy.They are built well especially with the gear that I attach to them with my long shotgun mics, video recorders.Great price for what your getting, and I always have peace of mind knowing my camera is protected.

I got this cage in anticipation of upgrading my a6500 to an a6700. For those curious like I was, it does install on the smaller a6500 but you lose access to the popup flash and the battery is difficult to access (and the hdmi holder won't work.) That said, I know this wasn't designed for the 6500 so I'm not docking it for that.This cage itself is so nice in terms of features as well as fit & finish. The anodization is perfect and a nice gunmetal-like color with easy to read etchings/markings. It also doesn't add much in terms of weight. I really like that it has a dedicated spot (with magnets) for a small tool that works for the main mounting screw and the smaller m2.5 hex bolts that affix the camera to the cage. I also appreciate that the packaging includes a minimal amount of plastic.Overall this is a really well thought out rig at a solid price and adds a ton of mounting options while also adding a decent amount of protection from bumps.

I've used a few cages and have not loved that it's almost impossible to make the MI shoe interface work with Sony mics or the DJI mic receiver. This one has plenty of room and works great. Built in wrench on the bottom makes it easy to take on and off. HDMI cable clamp is useful as well. Top notch quality all around like you've come to expect from Smallrig. The Hawklock system is Smallrigs system similar to Falcam's F22 system. While they are similar, they are not cross compatible.

I didn't tested it for now, but just installing it was a piece of cake. It's sturdy, and super cool to handle (the extra grip might be a liiiitle too extra, but i could just remove it with the screws if I don't like it. Will update if needed
