It’s got all the bells and whistles, measuring AC/DC current, voltage, resistance, you name it. I used it to troubleshoot some wiring and felt like I should be wearing a lab coat. The auto-ranging feature is a lifesaver, especially when you’re not exactly sure what you’re dealing with (no shame, we’ve all been there). It even checks continuity and temperature, so you can impress your friends by saying, "Hold on, let me check the capacitance real quick." Trust me, this little gadget is a game changer in the DIY world, just don’t let it go to your head!

This is somewhat of a pain in the rear to use the meter. I have used lots of meters over the years (both automatic, auto-ranging, clamp on, AC clamp on, DC clamp on, and manual range setting meters, along with old analog meters), and this one by far acts the strangest. This one, can supposedly measure DC current using the clamp, but you have to set it to manual to begin with. However, when I started measuring low current in the DC clamping mode, and increased the current, the meter thinks it is AC current and shifts to trying to measure AC all by itself, and when I decreased the DC current, the meter went back to measuring DC current. That is very strange, because I am on the DC current measurement manual setting, but the unit reads AC current, and is not accurate on low ranges for DC current measurements. They give you a temperature probe, but be sure not to turn the meter on with the temperature probe already installed in the plugs. Because the meter will try to measure resistance instead. And there is no way at that point in time to go to manual mode. Trying to push the button to get it to manual mode doesn't work. Instead, you need to turn the meter off, remove the temperature probe connections, turn the meter on, go to manual settings, then after ALL of that you then can plug the temperature probe in to read the temperature. What a pain...The clamp of the meter requires quite a bit of effort to open the jaws. They do close tight though. The meter also comes with test probes. However, even with that, on measuring other things, the manual says be sure to remove the probes to measure current. Too many things to keep track of.Sorry folks, this is a no go for me on this meter.

I can only review the meter I received. Below are my findings. Yours may be better, or worse. Please consider the purchase price before being too critical. In all fairness, this isn't a $200-$700 meter. As a clamp meter, it measured a 9amp AC draw very close to actual- within 100ma variance at the breaker panel. As a clamp meter, it has my respect right off. Good so far...Temperature measurement was a bit wonky at first, not sure why- seemed to jump 2 degrees without warning when measuring still air. However, that settled when used as intended by touching various surfaces, including placing the probe in the freezer for 2 minutes. Temperature readings in those conditions fell within 1° of actual. Can't complain there. Be patient as the probe tip needs to settle into absorbed temperature (be at temperature being measured).Diode test was surprisingly close to actual- tested various types including schottkey types. All tested as expected. Readings were within specs.Capacitance tests on electrolytics were off by .25% to 5% depending on value. I tested from 4.7uf to 1000uf. I think if you just want to know if your starter cap on an hvac system is within the ballpark you are good with this. If you want precision, buy a capacitance meter.DC voltages measured from 3v to 60v were off by .05v or so. Not too bad for this meter imho.NCV mode was sensitive- almost too sensitive. Not sure what the standard or idea is for sensitivity. If it had an adjustment it would be perfect.Live test seemed to work fine. Nothing much to report there- alarm went off when probe touched a live line vs neutral or ground. All in all, it does the job. This one did not measure resistance like others in this price range do.I would recommend it for use in mainly measuring clamp AC current- for that it does very well.

I ordered this for it's ability to read microfarads to test capacitors. It performed that function very well. The auto mode is something I don't really care for as I was doing a test on some relays and it kept switching to ohms even though I was wanting a voltage test. For reasons like that, this multimeter cannot replace my other meter. I will keep looking for one with a clamp that allows for manually setting the test and does microfarads also.
