The item was sent in a very small envelope and weighed nothing!!! The shipping cost was $12.00! I can get this product anywhere else considerably cheaper. I will not buy from this seller ever again!!! The part itself was reasonable but the shipping was RIDICULOUS!!!!

This spacer and shim kit replaces the pinion crush washer and makes gear swaps and servicing easier. Best part is it is reusable.

Nothing too special here but it is what you need to eliminate the “crush sleeve” on the pinion of a Ford 9”. The crush sleeve works well enough when doing gears because you just keep tightening the pinion nut until you achieve the bearing preload you are looking for. There are two issues with a crush sleeve. The first is that if you go too far and have a too much preload when setting things up you will have to throw away the crush sleeve and start over. The second is that if you ever have to loosen the pinion nut, you have to replace the crush sleeve and set preload. If you never have to replace your pinion yoke either to upgrade or replace a broken yoke it may never be an issue.Installing this takes a bit more effort than a crush sleeve but once it’s set it won’t change even if you pull the pinion yoke and install a new one. That piece of mind to me is worth the very small amount of extra effort.

Perfect solution to a crush sleeve. Replaced and upgraded carrier in a 05 Excursion and rather than messing with a crush sleeve I opted for this pinion spacer and it made it an easy fix. No torquing to 300+ foot pounds to set the pre-load risking over torquing. Just gauge the existing crush sleeve, then place the spacer with shims to match, then torque to proper pre-load and you're all set. Yes, you may have to try a couple times to get the proper shims to be able to set the pre-load, but once it's set, you NEVER have to figure it out again. If you have to replace the pinion bearing down the road just replace this spacer with the shims and torque to pre-load and you're done.
