Fits a 4-inch pipe diameter/vent opening.
3.How the Vent Cover Works?
When the dryer is working, hot air enters and passes through the elbow of hood, which pushs the floating shuttle cup upward and allows air to escape from the bottom of the hood.
When the dryer is not working, the floating shuttle cup will automatically fall down and be closed to form a completely sealed state. This design can prevent cold wind and other unwelcome things from entering the house through the ventilation holes.
4.Installation Instructions:
Step 1 ASSEMBLE:
Join the elbow’s smooth side into the vent body.
Step 2 GET VENT OPENING READY:
The existing vent pipe should be cut if necessary to have it protruded 1/2” from the outside wall. Clean lint accumulated in the vent pipe.
Step 3 SET UP:
Place the flat part of the elbow against the wall, align the holes and insert the 1/2” of the old vent pipe into the elbow.
Mount the vent in a vertical position as in the picture below. Secure the 6 screws (included).
To make sure the fit airtight enough, caulk with a bead of silicone around the square flanges.

I just purchased this to replace a very similar design made Heartland. The Heartland is available on Amazon to and about $40 cheaper. But the Heartland is made of plastic. The new one is made of stainless steel, other than the piece that blocks inflow. It is made of plastic as it needs to be light weight so the dryer air can lift it open. But the new one actually included too plastic pieces and one is for a spate! This new vent is very well designed and constructed and should last a lifetime. The design of both the old unit and the new one, does an excellent job of stopping cold air and bugs from entering the dryer vent hose. I highly recommend this unit.

Bought this for my husband because he said ours needed replacement. He says it "Top Notch". Easy install & it works exactly as described. No more cold air coming into dryer when it's off. No more critters in dryer vent. Pricy but great buy!

Bought a new house and the builder used cheap plastic dryer vent covers. Worked ok, but the inside of the dryer during the winter, was as cold as it was outside. The flaps on the vent would open during windy conditions. Was tired of hearing about how cold the clothes were coming out of the dryer. I was more concerned about the air coming into the house and causing the heating bill to go up.I found this vent with an great design. Since using it, no more cold dryer and the heating bills are down.The installation, depending on your siding or exterior wall, may need to be altered. I have vinyl siding and installation was easy. I did have to take some exterior silicone sealer and seal around the siding. Wasn't a big deal, but wanted to make sure I had an air tight fit.I looked at many different exterior dryer vents and still consider this one the best.

This dryer vent could be used on the space station it's that well made. For the money you are getting a product 100 times better than the flimsy ones the building supplies sell. Thick stainless steel, construction and fit are excellent. Very easy to clean although it doesn't need the amount of cleaning other ones need. The only minor issue is the two screws that hold the top on can be difficult to get back in due to there small size. I remedied this by purchasing longer stainless steel screws and add wing nuts to hold on to them. See photo. Still, 5-stars

Great product!! High quality and very well made. Bought 2 to replace my 2 plastic vents that were similar in design. These metal vents are beautiful and I don’t expect to replace them like I had to do every 2-3 years with the inferior plastic vents

I was skeptical because I assume this product is made in China and I'm right about that. What I was wrong was that they didn't dilute the metal down. A magnet doesn't stick to REAL stainless. Most Chinese "stainless" that I've ever encountered a magnet will stick to. They even send you a magnet in the package challenging you to check it. Will it stand the test of time?... I hope. But initial impressions were positive.

To be absolutely clear- THIS IS NOT STAINLESS STEEL. Item listing and description is absolute fiction.Thin gage steel, lightly painted, no way this is powder coated, was damaged, scratched right through to bare metal, during shipping which is going to result in immediate rusting.Amazon refuses to allow returns, not the seller.

heavy metal construction, i lightly sanded it with emery cloth and painted it with rusty rustoleum paint to match my brick, perfect match as well, that said the lid uses 2 tiny screws to hold it on which a bad design as if you drop one when checking or cleaning the lint build up you will never find them i did go buy some bigger/longer screws to replace them other than that it works great . also it came with an extra plastic cup that closes off the vent when not in use....DON'T buy the cheaper plastic ones as they will break being in the sun as all plastic does, my neighbor has one of them and it looks terrible... QUALITY does cost a bit more ...you get what you pay for

Replaced new construction vent with this vent. Experienced "flapping" of the vent during high winds, which caused noises inside and have experienced drafts going into the dryer; therefore, kept the dryer door closed. I have two sets of washer/dryers in home, so this first was to see if warranted second due to price. I did reorder another.GOOD:This is solid heavy stainless steel, no sharp edges, and very good constructions.Easy to install. Essentially I cut off base of old vent with Drummal, put down silicon under the base and to wall, slide under the siding, and silicone around edges. Need to put trim back on yet.IMPROVE:Mounting screws are too short and did not bite into the wall. Bought 1 1/4" SS screws in order to get through the siding to the wall.Reduce cost of unit by $10 or more, it is expensive. Supply longer mounting screws and don't provide unnecessary gloves and screw driver.

Came with a back up exhaust valve which is a plus. Painted metal, I do not know if this will rust, but is built solid and looks good. So far so good and will not be pulled apart like my last plastic vent cover.

12 Years ago I bought similar model to this but in plastic (you can still buy it) and the efficient was awesome, but sun, winter, time and plastic don`t make a good mix, and finally the plastic version broke, I decided to upgrade to this metal version, installed since 2 months, working exactly like it is supposed, (no cold air in the dryer, all the lint goes outside, very easy to install come with glove (cute) a good screwdriver, a backup plastic cap and all necessary instruction.
