Quickly found all three control valve boxes that were buried 6" deep, and one was underneath a small bush. If you're a homeowner or an irrigation professional searching for control boxes I highly recommend this. Much better and faster than using a wire finder.

Works great. I have been searching for a couple buried valves on and off for weeks probing where I thought they were located. It took me about 3 minutes to find each valve once I connected the Chatter Box.

The volume on this device is too low. Stuck it near where the known sprinkler heads were and had to strain my ears in order to hear it. Would not be able to locate sprinkler hears that are buried.

Great gadget and does what it says it will do. Wished there was a way to make it click louder, but as I understand it, that depends on the type of system and valve control you have. We have a Rainbird and it works but is kind of hard to hear. I recruited my 21 year old son to help look and listen and he picked up the sound in about 20 minutes . We had no clue as to the location other than somewhere in our 6700 square feet backyard so we just walked a grid pattern listening. We also used a 3 foot long 3" PVC tube to help listen to the ground and that did help once my son heard it. Definitely don't try it with any background noise, like wind. Box was under about 2" of grass and debris and he was able to here a faint clicking in the still morning.

I needed to find my valves, more than half were buried by the previous home owner. I have Hunter valves and was concerned about the product working with them. The product was easy to use and I found all my buried valves. The valves/solenoids were very easy to hear - even while under 4 inches of soil and landscaping bark. I am very happy with the purchase!

The unit does cause a vibration but unless the valves and very close to the surface prepare to have difficulty finding them. I have tried a 2" pipe as a listening device to no avail and will try a stethescope when the weather warms up

Wow, what a great gizmo for locating control valves. I had 15 valves to find around 10 condos that were built in phases. The irrigation was also put together in phases without any layout diagrams. Made an impossible task more than possible. Found all 15! Find your valves while they are still working. So when they quit working you'll now where they are and can replace them.
