works great and definitely saves money over replacing a cylinder head, ease of use and way more permanent than other options of thread repair

If you are not mechanically inclined I do not recommend this fix. I am old and have years of machining experience and if you get lazy or rambunctious with this process you will make matters worse. However, if you are experienced this kit is the best on the market in my opinion. The tool quality is great and the end result is a permanent repair. Well done Time Sert.

I am a first time owner of any timesert brand. With that being said it is a amazing product. First time using it it fixed my blown out spark plug issue. I liked that fact that it uses a solid steel bushing for thread replacement instead of a coil design (helicoil). Plus it’s a permanent repair because it mechanically locks into the spark plug hole along with the red lock tite on my 2009 Ford 4.6L V8 and my friends 2009 5.4 ford truck . Very strait forward instructions. It is a little time consuming but you definitely get what you pay for. I definitely recommend this. Been almost a year on the repair and no issues!

As a professional auto mechanic, comparing the tinesert bigsert kit to any other solution is.... incomparable. The engineering that was put into this tool is absolutely second to none. I recently did 10 inserts on an 02 excursion with the 6.8 triton V10. This job is not for the faint of heart and is a pain with any kit. However, comparing the timsert bigsert kit to the others available, as well as hearing horror stories of other manufacturers inserts blowing out leaving a larger hole to repair, the timesert kit is well worth the money. 1 job and it paid for itself. Follow the instructions and you will have a repair that you can be absolutely confident in and out your name on as I did. I can't say I would want my name on any other insert repair using any of the other brands. Don't believe me? Well I encourage you to go and find similar repair kits and hold them in your own hands to compare like I did. You will find there is really only one correct option and that is the timesert insert kit.As I mentioned I recently did 10 inserts on an excursion with no hassle regarding the use or function of the tools in this kit, I have ALSO done at least 2 other repairs from shops that used a lower quality kit and their inserts blew out. You can repair most blown out inserts with this kit, unlike any other kit available.I cannot praise this kit enough. Well done tinesert.

I thoroughly reviewed many different designs, and asked many references, for spark plug repair on my Ford Triton. By far the Time-Sert was the most complete and most robust remedy for me. I did the repair with heads on, fuel rails in place. (2001, F150, 5.4L, with 220,000 original miles)Be extremely careful to avoid hitting any intake or exhaust valve heads; both valves must be completely closed before doing any reaming or threading. Suggest do NOT use grease to catch/retain machining chips (far too difficult to clean up grease). Instead suggest use oil on each tool, then shop vacuum with tubing to vacuum chips out of bottom of cylinder, then compressed air with tubing to agitate and blow out remaining chips. In all cases, vacuum or compressed air, rotate the tubing to completely circle the cylinder bore to catch most of all chips. Before installing new inserts, use NON-flammable brake cleaner to clean threads in head. Before installing new inserts, shop vacuum again (NON-flammable brake cleaner) as final clean up. Then install and torque new inserts. Now lets see 'IF' I might get another 100,000 miles on this engine. Fingers crossed. Ford should have NEVER manufactured or sold these Triton engines with such a poor, failure prone, spark plug blow out issue. Hopefully now fully resolved on my truck.

I am not a professional mechanic but I do a lot of my own work on stuff I can handle. I bought this kit after a lot of research on ejected spark plugs on ford triton engines. I have the 4.6 that ejected 2 plugs, 3 and 7. I had the plugs repaired at my local shop and they used the little black inserts with the stitching on the top. The first repair they did was ok, but the second repair was not good. I was having detonation issues and misfire under a load. Decided to buy this kit and do it myself. Boy am I glad I did! I was able to get the old inserts out with this kit and installed two time-sert inserts. The instructions are easy to read and understand plus there are some good videos on YouTube on how to use the kit. A really good one with the head on the work bench. I did it with the engine in the truck. The tools are very well made and precision machined. The inserts are very well made. They are much bigger than the cheap black ones you can buy at the store. I followed all the instructions and tips and was able to successfully install the new inserts no problem. I would recomend having a bore scope so you can see your work. I have a cheap unit but it paid for itself doing this job. You might be thinking that the kit is expensive. Well it is, but you are getting what you pay for. The repair will be permanent if done right and if I eject another plug I have 6 more inserts. My truck runs great, all issues are gone and I was able to do it myself. Long review, but lots of info to try and get out there. Bottom line for me was to get this kit or new heads. This kit saved my butt and my $$.
