Examples would be small engine repair as in mopeds, lawn mowers, out board motors and some motorcycles. These applications would not require long reach tools. The 4412 kit is used for both washer and taper seat applications. The installation is exactly the same for taper seat or washer seat you only need the appropriate length/style of insert. THIS KIT CONTAINS NO INSERTS; MUST BUY SEPARATELY

Used this tool to repair damaged spark plug threads on an aluminum headed LS1, spark plug #1. The tool worked perfectly even with limited access with engine still in car. What I like most about this kit is the method used to hold the replacement fitting in place - from the bottom of the threads. Other less expensive kits require access to spread the fittings from the top requiring access to hammer the seal from the top.

Was leery using kit but as others have stated watch you tube video using wheel bearing grease. Very easy to use almost to easy to thread tap and create new threads. So easy it made me nervous. Used loctite permanent adhesive and so far runs great. Torqued up to spec upon spark plug installation.

Kits like this are better than those kits that have the swager tool because alot of times you don't have enough hammering room. This kit has the tool that expands the insert against the head- locking it in.

Works fine, its a complicated job thou, you have to be really on the ball to not have any problems. The bad thing is you use it once and then that's it, you spent the money in a tool that is meant to be used pretty much once every few years if ever again, and it wont sell that easy, I've tried. The build quality is really good, and the tolerances are tight, the job was well done and my spark plugs are tight sealed now.I purchased the oil and the loctite they recommend for the job, just in case. Also some dielectric grease in the plugs threads so they do not lock in place for later removal. The box is not the best quality.

I bought this to repair a blown spark plug in a 2001 Crown Victoria. I had the car looked at by a mechanic and was told that it would cost more to fix than the car was worth. On a whim, I bought this product and reviewed a few "how-to" videos on a very popular free video site that went into great depth on the process of re-threading a spark plug hole. Using this product and a few other simple tools (3/8" socket wrench, a few spark plug sockets, and some extensions) I was able to re-thread the hole to fit a new spark plug with a threaded insert. The entire procedure took me less than an hour, and my car was running great afterward. I later sold the tool on an auction website for almost what I paid for it, so my total cost for the repair was around $15 all together. I'd also like to add that this was the very first time I have ever done any work on a car at all. Without this tool, it would have been impossible to fix, so if you have a blown spark plug BUY THIS TOOL. You will be glad you did.
