I bought 2 of these sets and neither one worked out of the box. I didn’t even install after they failed the test. I did the resistance ohm test on both and both were blown!! The second replacement was also sent WITHOUT the capacitor.. Now they won’t REFUND the original payment. I ended up buying a higher quality unit without problems. Seems to me these were already returned units!!!

My GE GNS23GGHBF refrigerator has an Embraco EM3D60HLT compressor and an Embraco QD TSD2 Time Start Device with product code 513605040. Both sections stopped cooling after a lightning strike. Every few minutes, the TSD would click, the compressor would start and run for about ten seconds, the TSD would click again, and the compressor would stop.I unplugged the refrigerator, disconnected the TSD from the compressor (simply pop off the retainer, remove the sleeve, and pull straight out to separate), and shorted the capacitor's pins to discharge.A multimeter on its Ω (ohms) setting quickly confirmed (with the refrigerator unplugged) that the resistance of the compressor START winding (between top C / COMMON pin and bottom left S / START pin) and of the compressor MAIN / RUN winding (between top C / COMMON pin and bottom right M / MAIN pin) both approximate the published specifications (5.66 Ω at 25°C and 4.42 Ω at 25°C, respectively). This was a relief, as a seized compressor would be Bad News! When engaged, the TSD is designed to energize both windings for about a half second (enough time for the capacitor to boost the START winding) to get the compressor started and then deenergize the START winding while continuing to power only the MAIN / RUN winding to keep the compressor running.A multimeter on its V AC (Volts Alternating Current) setting quickly confirmed (with the refrigerator plugged in - be careful!) that the TSD was failing to deenergize the start winding (between socket corresponding to top C / COMMON pin and socket corresponding to bottom left S / START pin). The compressor with both windings energized for more than a few seconds draws enough current to trip the TSD's integrated overload protector, which makes an audible click as it deenergizes both windings to switch off the compressor. Once the TSD cools off, the overload protector resets, which makes the same audible click as it reenergizes the windings, repeating the cycle (forever).Bypassing the TSD confirmed this diagnosis and restored service pending installation of a replacement. With the refrigerator unplugged, I removed the black L / LINE (hot) and twin-red N / NEUTRAL wires from the TSD (they are standard female spade crimp connectors), attached the black L / LINE connector to the top C / COMMON pin of the compressor, attached the twin-red N / NEUTRAL connector to a compatible male spade crimp connector joining both wires of a simple splitter I made using a length of lamp cord, and attached one leg of the splitter (with female spade crimp connector) to the S / START pin of the compressor and the other leg of the splitter (with female spade crimp connector) to the M / MAIN pin of the compressor. I then plugged in the refrigerator, and as soon as the compressor started, carefully removed the leg of the splitter cable connected to the S / START pin of the compressor, thus simulating the proper functionality of the TSD (but without any overload protection, and without a way for the compressor to restart automatically when cycled by the main controller). Eureka!GE Appliances WR08X10112 comprises components 729 (capacitor), 734 (retainer), and 735 (time start device) in the parts diagram and costs about $80 (Amazon item B00EDDNK66). The TSD in this listing is identical in appearance other than the L / LINE and N / NEUTRAL plug type, which was easy enough to work around with small female spade crimp connectors. It functions perfectly in this application! *whew*

Delivery was quick. Install was easy if it wasn't for having to move fridge and clean out all the dust.I had "clicking" sound and freezer was by off by 25.F and fridge was off by 20.F.. Also, after a hard reset (unplugging fridge for 30 minutes to an hour) Fridge/Freezer temps. would get into normal ranges. However, hours later, it would all warm up again. After install, alls good. For now..I don't know I necessarily trust a product that was only a 30 day warranty... And with the cost of food... Just saying...

Disappointed that the clip on the refrigerator would not go all the was on to lock in place. Seems like they know that issue and why they include the wire adapter. But fixed the fridge so can’t complain
