A bad trackpad connector can stop your Mac air from booting. Very common. Usually a little water drop gets on the “metal contacts” and you get a little corrosion. Should be noticeable. The Mac Air needs an “ALL GOOD” flag or it won’t boot. Doesn’t make sense for a bad keyboard/trackpad ribbon cable to stop it but that’s how it’s designed. GOOD LUCK.

Easy 10 minute repair with the correct screw drivers. Daughter spilled water on laptop and the keyboard and trackpad stopped working. Remove cover, disconnect battery connection, remove battery and then replaced ribbon. Computer: MacBook Air (early 2015)

I spilled soda on my Macbook Air which caused the keyboard and track pad to stop working. Opened it up and replaced this part. Saved me from hundreds of dollars on repair!
