Your cart is empty. Central and South America purpleheart (peltogyne). Medium to hard wood with tight, fairly straight grain with moderate to coarse texture. Bright purple when cut, darkens to brownish purple with exposure. Purpleheart is a very strong wood, machines well with sharp tools. Turns and finishes well. Uses for purpleheart include: boat-building, flooring, furniture, heavy construction, and a variety of specialty wood items. Pens, knife scales, bottle stoppers. Stock is cut to size from quality, kiln-dried stock. 100% clear and sanded on both sides. Dimensions are +- 1/8" grain runs with the longest dimension.

The quality of the wood is questionable - maybe my piece was an anomaly. You will need to plane the heck out it to get a decent piece - which would cut down on your overall size. Maybe this piece is a diamond in the rough but i'm not lathing it... I needed a good solid clean piece.

The demensions were 2 1/16 x 1 15/16 x 24 1/16. Close enough. Its quite purple. Through and through. Bought this for knife handles or just tool handles in general. Cheaper than paying 10-15 $ for 4" lenghts of knife scales. Gonna be making a integral demascus chefs knife. Whith the demascus etched and hot blued so the 15n20 really pops. With a mokume gana spacer. I think the wifes gonna like it. Probly gonna burn finish the handle for that deep purple look. Oooo its gonna be sexy. Im drooling lol

It started out more brown but after I cut the wood and left it in the sun for a day the purple came out pretty good

I guess, I wasn't expecting it to be coated it wax, but that's how you preserve wood from what I gather. So if you're not expected it, have some way of removing the wax. Also, my cheap table saw, couldn't handle the wood, but that's nothing to do with this product.

85% sapwood and cracked bad!!!! very dissapointed only piece of wood i have ever bought from woodcraft that has not been of the highest quallity
